HALauncher - Android TV

This is incredible Launcher! It looks same like Android TV OS.

This has become very unstable on Nougat... cannot use it anymore. Dev seems to be sleeping on this rather than making changes. Apps and HAL keep crashing. HAL never seems to fully remember it is the default launcher, keeps asking that!? Other launchers do not. It is way better than Chainfire sideload launcher, way more customisable with folders and so now you can REPLACE the stock interface with this one as it shows all your side loaded apps on the home screen. Also, please add the ability to backup and restore the settings and to be able to easily see which apps are categorised or not.

OMG. Am using this on a GPD XD and it looks so nice now. Excellent launcher for GPD XD users. Setting everything up takes a bit of effort but once it's up, it's awesome.

Use it on the Nvidia Shield and its simply the best, Allows you to create custom icons as well as custom groups. Makes the Shield super wife friendly for watching tv.

So I was doing a shortcut for a Dreamcast game and adding it up to my Dreamcast category as usual, and once I finished it and all that stuff the thing didn't run the game properly it just open the emulator main screen instead of starting the game, pls fix that

Please open source this app!!!

It would get 5 stars if it let you customise each app tile/icon and the search icon.

Awesome launcher

I use my Nvidia Shield K1 as my only gaming/media device for my TV and this launcher is incredibly useful and my main launcher when my tablet is docked. Unfortunately, it crashes quite a bit. I have about 40 icons on the launcher and when it get to the last icon on the list and tap right another time, instead of looping back to the beginning it crashes.

I LOVE IT. SO FAR WORKS GREAT. I WISH IT WOULD ALLOW ME TO CHANGE THE IMAGE OF EVERY ICON, IM STUCK WITH THE DEFAULT IMAGE....OH WELL, BUT NICE SOFTWARE OVERALL.

Best launcher available for my GPD XD is hampered by crashes. Please resolve the crashes so I can revise this review.

If we can fit that it's nearly perfect. :)

Works awesome on my GPD XD. The only features I think it needs are auto-adding new apps to the main screen and being able to drag and drop apps around in the main screen to organize/categorize them instead of having to use the current sort system. I feel like it takes too many clicks to sort apps. Its just a suggestion because the app is great as-is and it really is the best Android TV/Console launcher.

Love this app. This is what Android T should be. A gorgeous and clean ui that allows you to arrange apps any way you want. Remote control friendly. I was able to set it as default launcher but fear the ability will be removed in the future. I really hope not, why don't Google understand the only reason we want AndroidTV devices is for this, take away the customizability and then what's the point? You might as well be Apple.

I have this on my GPD XD and the layout is great. I have all my games as shortcuts with cover art and they launch straight into emulation when selected. I noticed though, that when you create a shortcut and choose your emulator from the dropdown, some emulators appear but many installed ones don't. I would like to know why that is and if there is a way to add those to the dropdown selection. Everything else is fantastic, thank you!

Love it can customise it and it's pretty easy to set up. If it had the ability to change the text colour from plain white it'd be perfect Edit they've sorted the coloured text

Great launcher! Please fix the default launcher issue in Marshmallow. Did manage to solve it by rooting and disabling the service, but if I long click the back button once on the HALauncher home screen the app will crash.

I tried this and SideLoad Launcher on my Nvidia Shield TV. I found this to be much the better of the 2 it's a shame it cant be locked as default launcher but unlike Sideload Launcher this can be used in place of the standard launcher once it can be fixed as default. So if you want easy access to all you sideloaded apk's this is the app to use UPDATE HAL has a APK Transfer option UPDATE 2 this option no longer works

The app is very simple and straight forward. Can't complain if you're the "set it and forget it" type of person. I personally haven't come across some of the issues other users posted. My grips with the app is that it is limited on customization. For example, having the ability to add an your own art to the tiles. For now, there is just an icon with a default background as a tile for most of the apps. Would love to see an improvement in that area.

Great app, prefer it to sideload launcher... that icon tho... SO UGLY.

Exactly what I needed, simple to configure but with enough setting that I could get what I wanted... A clean simple Media Center launcher!

actually one of the best tv launchers.

Since the last few versions it crashes way too often to be able to use properly. I hope you fix it. If not I'll have to get back to the older APK. The app being stable is more important than some fancy graphics or smooth movements.

1: Please add mouse control via shield controller with right analog stick. 2: Allow app icons to not be surrounded by the color scheme. Like leanback launcher.

Please add more features to customize and add voice control/mic option in place of search

I like the overall theme for this launcher. The problem is that it crashes constantly. I have a rooted android box and got rid of the default launcher and yet it crashes every time I reboot. I will give give stars when they fix the crashing issues. I have emailed several times about it with no change. Please fix this cause I like this launcher

Crashes constantly on my Mad Catz Mojo. Would also be nice if apps removed themselves from folders automatically when uninstalled. Could also use a better folder system organizer as well. Please fix these and it will be perfect.

Would be so good if it was a Home App. As it is now, I have to go through Leanback Launcher on the Shield TV to get to this one, and this one is soooo much better than Leanback!!

I love this launcher for my M8S Android TV-box. Great work! But I have had trouble with the settings becoming corrupt when my box have hanged and I have been forced to pull the plug. After boot it just kept blinking and never start. Had to install another launcher as well just to have a usable box when this happens so I can uninstall your launcher and then reinstall it to fix the problem.

Loads of setting to customize but fails to launch every start up. Please fix as this is a keeper for TV.. M.o.j.o ... Also infinite scroll through apps instead of jumping to the start would be an added bonus.
