About FlashAlert Messenger

FlashAlert Messenger allows the public to view local news, and receive push notifications of emergency alerts from FlashAlert Newswire. You may use it as a stand-alone news viewer or link it to your FlashAlert Messenger account for emergency alert push notifications from the schools, police agencies or organizations you have selected.

Visit www.flashalert.net for more information.

If you are having trouble attaching your account to the app, please see this page:
http://www.flashalert.net/help/attach-button.html

If you get a message that you are not connected to the Internet, turn off your wifi and use the app on cellular service. Then turn wifi back on, and you should be able to work off either network. The problem seems to be a conflict between the app and an Android operating system upgrade. We are working on an update to the app, but it requires a rebuild from the ground up.

If you get a new phone, you must delete the old one and link the new one (the notifications are sent based on the phone ID token, not the phone number).

Once you get through the login and setup, and the what seems an extensive account validation process, it's mostly okay. The basics are there, but it could definitely use some spit and polish. I'll probably uninstall after this storm blows through and stick with the web version on my computer.

E70%
by E####:

Impossible interface. Spent tremendous amount of wasted time trying to get setup. Chock full of indecipherable error messages. Useless.

M70%
by M####:

It won't let me create an account without choosing an organization to receive updates from (why can't I just subscribe to an umbrella of regional agencies?) and then it just shows me an update screen for that organization without creating my account. Frustrating.

X70%
by X####:

Too difficult to set up and the app didn't work on my phone.

M70%
by M####:

So far this is a worthless app taking far too long to get working.

M70%
by M####:

This is a horrible app. I can't even get an account registered. Uninstalling it.

I get the same internet connection message. Contacted them once and it's my phone that has the problem. Used G-5, now using G-7, and it still doesn't work. I guess it's my phone again.

With the latest update, this app works like a charm. Easy to use with no log-on or connectivity issues. If you had problems with the older version (like I did) try the updated app. You won't be disappointed.

Local Parks & Rec recommended. I'm a senior who uses their services. Not only do I get their alerts, but also the local info on senior services, school closures, and public transportation is showing during adverse weather conditions. Recommending to friends and family.

D70%
by D####:

Works great for alerts and notifications, but God forbid you wanna browse local news and alerts. To do so you have to scroll through a massive list of items that has to keep loading every few entries. No way to search or add subscriptions through the app. This app really needs to be rebuilt from the ground up

UPDATE: I reset the apps cache and storage and re-registered & it worked.*************************************** and I get " error null" every time I open the app. Nexus 6P, Android 7.1.1

I was having issues logging on with the updated version even though my login and password where working online. they have fixed the issue and everything is working great again.

W70%
by W####:

Had a problem getting the app to accept my login. Developer contacted me quickly about a fix, and now it works.

D70%
by D####:

What a disaster. It won't allow me to log in again. Very disappointed. I spent months being told I wasn't connected to the Internet when I was and after I deleted FA from my Android phone I am unable to access anything. Prior to this I would have given 4 stars and before that 5. Looks like we are going backwards.

D70%
by D####:

After registering, the app keeps tellng me there is no internet connection, so I cannot register my cell phone but I do have connectivity. This needs to be fixed or else it's worthless to me

Push notification test does not work on my new S7 phone. Email alert test works fine. Uninstalled app and deleted phone from account, then started over several times w/o success. App works fine on another family phone (iPhone4) using same account.

Same issue as others. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and immediately got same error about not being connected to the internet. I use a Samsung Note 5.

D70%
by D####:

I downloaded this app for obvious reasons. It tells me that I'm not connected to the internet. Bull. I'm connected. I have WiFi, and my carriers connection. Full bars. I'm getting angry.

N70%
by N####:

For such an important type of app, you would think that they could fix the issue regarding a wireless internet connection. Uninstalling until you can get it fixed.

D70%
by D####:

Found that the app will work properly if you disconnect a wireless connection, connect back to wireless network and it claims to be not connected to the Internet again. This seems a little backwards.

D70%
by D####:

Used to work great, but now rarely connects to the internet even when I have great signal. This app has become useless.

D70%
by D####:

It won't connect my account, it just says "unable to connect to FlashAlert." I've checked my password, works fine online.

D70%
by D####:

I was really excited to get this app but it doesn't work! I can't connect my account it says error...so basically the only thing I can see is the news feed.

D70%
by D####:

Worked great before...upgraded my phone, installed and can't access my account. ;(

D70%

This is horible it won't let me sign up and keeps giving me the invalid email error. I'm disappointed.

T70%

I just downloaded followed regular site need very much for this one to work, will give 5 stars when fixed.

T70%

The so never recognizes that my phone really does have an Internet connection! Extremely frustrating and makes the app worthless. It works great on my husbands Note 4, but I can't even log in with my LG Flex 2.

U70%

First impressions not great. The server's connection to the internet is intermittent. This does not give me confidence that it will be reliable. (10% packet loss between 208.187.247.238 and 204.10.35.173). The app appears to be heavily oriented toward the Portland area. I'm in Seattle. I don't care about emergencies, news, or sports scores in Portland. Finally, please remove that awful bottom tab bar. It goes against Android UI recommendations. And there's a very good reason for that -- it blends into the virtual navigation buttons (on tablets, Nexus devices, etc.)

T70%
by T####:

This used to work but now it is showing that I have no connection to the Internet even though I clearly do. This needs to be corrected in order for the app to work correctly.

I didn't like the Flash alert because I checked it at five o'clock my husband got ready for school he went over there we live close and I told him that at 5 when I checked it was normal schedule and when I checked again at 5 30 or 40 it was a two hour late start someone needs to get this information faster I watch the news all night long for him because I wanted him to get some sleep so somebody needs to get on the school district or you need to get the information out faster what good is it I do get phone

T70%
by T####:

I want to like it but it constantly gives me this message... "Warning! You are disconnected from the Internet! Info displayed may not be current." ...I am connected so this is an app issue not internet. I'm greatfull for a friend that saw a news report and sent me a text to inform me that school was canceled today, if I had relied on the app I would have taken my 6 yr old out in below freezing temp to wait for a bus that wasn't coming.
