Canada Topo for Android
The only time i can see the topo lines is when i am zooming in and out. As soon as i remove both fingers to stop zooming, the topo lines disappear. I have tried changing the few settings available and all the different map types. It simply doesnt work!
This works well as a map but I'm having a problem with recording tracks. No matter what I set it to, it only records track points every 5 minutes. This is too long for the trails I am looking to record. It would be better to have one every 15 to 30 seconds since I'm using it while four wheeling.
Love the app, not a complaint but a wish that I could store downloads on my SD card. Haven't figured out how to display the coordinates yet either, probably just me missing something obvious.
HTC M8: I downloaded many maps — 10015 files (770 maps, 1,770MB) of the Arctic Cordillera and all was well until today when I started the app and no topo maps would display. The grid will, and the regular map, hybrid, sat and terrain display — but no topos. All the setting were configured appropriately.
It was good until the last update then now it crashes when I try to export data. Very unfortunate. Was 4 stars for sure. Will change if the problem is fixed.
Works great. Maps are always there when you need them. Great to have along on any hike or canoe trip.
I like this idea and the look of the maps but I can't get the terrain to show while under any useful zoom
I often want to get an approximate straight line distance between two points. Seems like you can give me that info fast, and for free. I will send you something to support your efforts.
Works well but random lines (tracks) will appear half way across the Atlantic when recording a track in Northern Ontario...
Excellent, use instead of paper maps. Particularly like that I can store a map in memory and so still use it when I'm outside phone coverage. And it still shows my current position.
Not very detailed. Many names not listed. No actual topo lines. Rudimentary.
Topo lines dissappear when zoomed in to a layer that I'd normally use...
What's the point of an app with topo maps that does not show topo lines?
I live remotely and now I have offline maps of my whole area. Thanks
Well put together. Much faster to find your info than the GoC web site. Thank you.
Works well no ads. Why can't more apps be like this
DOWNLOAD MAPS by zooming to area desired, then pressing and holding on that area ("long press").
Sorry don't care for it
No connection most places I go. Nice to be able to download at least as a backup for gps.
I love the simple interface - very intuitive to download maps for offline use.
Thank you
Two thumbs up!
thnks. i love the outdoors
Very effective.
I use The way tracking feature all the time when backpacking. It works and has never allowed me to lose my way.
I love it's simplicity
You can download topo maps for offline use with no restrictions! Unlike others where you have to pay to be able to download maps that are already paid by our tax dollars and freely available.
Just installed this app on my new fantastic phone... and I am very pleased. Works great and looks great... thanks
Way better than dragging around a bunch of paper maps.
Maps when out of cell service is the best!
Awesome to have a map without cell service
Long press to download topo maps. Got it
Couldn't be better.
Excellent app - use it all the time for hiking and canoeing. Simple but works very well. Developer was very responsive when I pointed out a problem with downloading from the topo map server. Highly recommended!
Had an issue with not being able to download maps for offline use so emailed developer. He responded quickly and rectified the problem. Great support!!!! Love the simplicity of this app!!
Haven't successfully used it once.
Wish they had elevations or height above sea level for hills valleys etc.
Prefer it over my Garmin. Impressed with accuracy. Galaxy S5. Excellent.
Thanks for fixing the download error bug. Good app.

Awesome app for offline adventures, the only two things I would like to see are the ability to download larger sections of map at a time and a scale overlay that can be toggled on/off. Wait, I lied, two more things - a compass display tied to phone compass or gps and a legend for reference and teaching. Thanks for the great app!
