Touch the watch face to take a picture. Swipe right to close. Swipe left for options including switching cameras, flash control, and self timer. More features to come soon, but feel free to fork and hack at the code yourself and share your contributions as this is an open source project.

What are users saying about Wear Camera Remote

Needs more features for 5 stars, but good, solid and working. Seems to work on my urbane. Only thing I don't like is that the rectangle on the watch switches between landscape and portrait only when rotation lock is off on the phone. This is a minor annoyance because my phone is always locked in portrait, which doesn't affect the camera app, which still switches. The orientation on the watch should be linked to the orientation in the camera app, not the phone screen orientation.

Z70%
by Z####:

Takes pictures and saves them in the 'camera' folder. I would like to see some update in the near future that, allow users to zoom in and be able to use video recording. And maybe a gallery to view them on the watch thanks for the app

Z70%
by Z####:

Great app! The only complaint I have is that, even with my phone and watch set to mute, taking a picture causes the phone to sound a loud 'ding.' Note 5 and Moto 360 2nd gen. Sweet app otherwise!

X70%
by X####:

I used it on my WIKO rainbow with LG Watch. It only opens the camera no capture the image when touch the screen. No options . No settings. What a waste of time. I found a other free one with capture and video recorder,zoom....

I like the app and it has worked well in the past. However, it no longer seems to be saving the pictures. I even tried to re install the app with no joy. Since I can't get the app to work I have dropped a 5* review down to 1*

Z70%
by Z####:

Great idea. Let's me take a picture but doesn't save it. Anyone else have this problem? I've looked in all my file storage as well.

Seriously people do you even test your own app? You can NOT use your voice to activate an app with wear in the title. It comes up "where" everytime and does not launch the app. Fix and get 5 stars.

P70%
by P####:

2/3 times camera froze. Not very good quality of the remote display, however that might be due to my watches capabilities. Fun to try?

Z70%
by Z####:

This app doesn't work. So you take a picture, but what good is a picture if it doesnt store. I want my money back, that's another point why no refund option?

T70%
by T####:

Took ages to discover the images are stored in built in memory not the removable SD card. /Internal storage/DCIM/Camera. None of my photo applications can find them and I have to use a file manager application to locate and open them. Works OK once you know what's going on

Z70%
by Z####:

Moto 360 w/ Oneplus One. The app is a remote view for your camera. Basic camera swap option, flash, and timer. Once you exit the camera app on your phone the watch image freezes and you have to close out of it on the watch before retaking pictures, not a huge hassle. Buuuut when using flash I get a weird half exposed line in the middle of the photo and the colors are different then when I use the factory camera app. Also can't use factory camera app photo modes like night time mode or HDR.

Z70%
by Z####:

This app looks so promising, but with the Sony Smartwatch 3 and HTC One m7, the pictures don't actually save... At least i can't see them. Please fix for 5 stars.

Not sure why the ratings are down on this app. It is fantastic. There is a slight delay when moving the phone (camera) around which is expected given bluetooth connection. But it works really well on my Huawei. Thanks.

G70%
by G####:

Doesn't work. The app opens but all I can do is tap my phones screen to take a picture. Nothing appears on x Huawei smart watch. Have I missed something?

X70%
by X####:

One thing I dislike is, the phone screen is locked when you trigger camera from watch and the camera is stuck to portrait mode.

Z70%
by Z####:

Very useful. Works great with Nexus 6P. I originally complained that the preview image stays in portrait mode, even when the phone is in landscape, but everything seems to work as it should after a reboot. There is some lag in the preview image, but I think that's inevitable. Update: Still not consistently rotating the preview for landscape mode. Later update: Back where we started: images are always captured in portrait mode, even when the phone is in landscape. The is on a Nexus 6P running Marshmallow. Needs work.

Not sure what I'll use it for other than espionage, but super fun to have. Tried to use as backup camera when hitching truck the other day, but picture was too inconsistent.

I like this app. However when i open from huawei watch onto note 4, when phone is asleep only get black screen? Is that normal

N70%
by N####:

Was great! Unfortunately it has stopped working today! Opens properly, but freezes/crashes when I try to take a picture! Galaxy s4 and gear live!

Z70%
by Z####:

I think the app works really well and does exactly what it says. I set up my phone and the range was really good as well after I went downstairs in the kitchen and was still able to see and snap a picture. The only gripe I have is one I've seen in other comments... Whenever I activate the app while my screen is locked, the orientation is off. It goes to portrait mode while the phone is sitting in the "landscape position". The result is that the picture on the watch screen is turned awkwardly.

Z70%
by Z####:

Cristo Robert has no idea what he's talking about. This app works great! I can control what camera to look through front or back and I can control flash also. This is awesome!

Z70%
by Z####:

The image gets distorted when taken or when viewing on the phone screen as well as the MOTO 360. everything else works fine.

Z70%
by Z####:

Works some of the time. Flash never works and it crashes nearly every time I opened it

Exactly what I needed. Other apps do the same and charge. But are not as user friendly as this. Thanks

I dont know why this isn't bundled by default. I also love its ability to open even if the phone is locked. I used that to take photos when my friends steal the phone.

by C####:

It wont take the picture on my LG G watch and Blu Studio X phone running Android 5.0.2. I see the preview, but nothing happens when I tap to take the picture. The app also randomly crashes. Really wanted it to work.

I just download it, my mind is still a little blown.

I cannot find the photos after taking them. Where are they stored?

C70%

At first, I was annoyed with a large arrow that says "Swipe for settings" but finally figured out the 1st time you take a photo, it goes away and stays gone forever. Just swipe left to access front/rear camera, flash on/off, and self timer options. Voyeurs of the world rejoice: it will take photos silently, and instantly opens camera on phone, even while phone screen is OFF! Note: Makes SLR sound effect IF the phone is on, otherwise, silent - great for surveillance. Saves photos in the camera DCIM folder. On the watch, the live picture is slow, maybe 5 FPS but that's a Bluetooth connection limitation. The reason the live view is tall & skinny is because your Wear watch's 320x320 pixel screen is showing your phone camera's FULL 16:9 image format. Although the side letterboxing is somewhat annoying, it's actually for the best because it doesn't crop anything off the live view. To see in horizontal 16:9 format, you'll have to hold the watch & phone sideways. I'm a comm tech and it's handy for holding the phone up in a drop ceiling to remotely see where to run CAT5, or underneath something you don't want to get down and crawl under. Very handy app, and works flawless. Asus Zenwatch, S3

does not work When i switch from rear camera to fron camera it crashes, then i just can't take a picture, i see the image in my gear live, but when i tap the screen to take a picture nothing happens,, i even set the timer to 5 secs, and it said it took a picture but i just do not kknow where. so you can use it as monitor but not to take pictures.

This is a great app with one big flaw, the photos don't actually save to the phone (Sony Xperia Z5 & Sony SmartWatch 3). But it is free so can't really complain too much.

C70%
by C####:

Takes photo but then it is not in my gallery? Worked a few weeks ago.

C70%
by C####:

As others have already mentioned, the photos aren't actually getting saved to my phone. Sony SW3 and Xperia Z5. UPDATE: Although it didn't save photos when I first installed it two days ago and although there was no update to the app, but when I just tried it now, it worked. Only 2 things, I don't like to have a shutter sound when I take a photo and unlike what others said, there is a sound even when the screen is off, and when I open the photos on my phone, the camera won't work anymore until I reopen it

Z70%
by Z####:

App work on LG G watch. Only 2 stars because you can not zoom in when using the app. Also phone screen has to be on if this app could turn on the screen and zoom in it would be 5 stars

C70%

Works as advertised with note 4 running DarthStalker rom and moto 360 2, picture quality could use some improvement.

Create a directory DCIM/Camera on your internal storage (probably DCIM is already there) - this has solved the problem for me.

C70%
by C####:

Please add selfie stick support! (Volume control takes a photo). I would love to be able to use my back camera on my Bluetooth selfie stick, but if I do, I can't see what is in view of the camera. This app would be perfect with the watch and able to pair it with a selfie stick.

I like the app it works well on my smartwatch 3 bit when I use the remote shutter where do the pictures go? They don't appear in my gallery on my phone?

Yesterday I just demonstrated the app to a friend while my phone was on another room. I did not take a picture, swiped the app away (to the right) and later picked up my phone only to see the app still running and having drained most of the battery.
