VLC HD Remote (+ Stream)

It doesn't work. Even when it claims it's connected there is red mark showing it's not connected. No auto wizard that takes u through the steps. There is no batch file for vlc. Vlc has changed. Settings that are in the manual wizard don't even match because app not updated. Has not been updated since 2013? This appears to be abandonware. Don't waste your money like me on the paid version.

Struggle for streaming video from pc to to my LG. For this reason 4 stars only. When i can easily stream to my LG, i would give the all stars. For all, if u looking for remote vlc player app i highly recommend this app. Await next update so that i can stream video from my pc to my LG.

Sometimes it plays, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes connected, sometimes not. Sometimes playback stops after 10 minutes, sometimes longer. Headache! I can't!

The best VLC Remote. Allows full browsing of filesystem, decent UI, easy to set up. These are areas where most of the competition fall down.

The in-app Help stuff is lacking but the app functions well and does the things I usually need. I couldn't figure out how to do certain things and there was no documentation or manual of any kind beyond the bit in-app.

A very useful app. Not only does it act as a remote for VLC media player loaded on your computer but you can stream and watch on your tablet/mobile phone.

This is the best vlc remote app. Worked perfect. Doesn't force u to buy full version. All round great. Can't wait till it gets further improvements. Maybe consider changing the apps icon but?

It took me a while to make this work... actually it was working all along but when you click stream you then need to click on the play arrow on the lower left corner... I had no clue why the move wouldn't play when clicking on the middle of the screen... So make a bigger play button, cuz I'm sure I'm not the only one who had that problem lol.

I haven't exactly stress tested this yet, but so far it's everything i wanted in a VLC remote: saving multiple machines, better interface, and then the streaming to phone puts the cherry on top! Will update this if i have to, but right now I'm impressed :)

I can browse file on this free version. button layout is not bad. wish the tab layout is different tho. a little annoying to go between the two screens I care about. (control and directory)

A few things I'd like to see: 1. A toggle state for the controls so I know what is selected and isn't. 2. A tootip for the various buttons so you know what they do. Otherwise an amazing app..

Very good to use. A few sugestions: have the volume buttons work when device is locked. Also have buttons on lockscreen like music player. What happened to having favourite folders option with star button.

Very comfortable and helpful. It was once but haven't updated since 2012 and it has lost workability with modern OS and latest VLC versions.

VLC 2.1.5 REQUIRES you to use a password... it's NOT optional anymore. I can't find a place to enter the password with this app. All the other vlc remote apps work great.... but then they all have a quick and easy place to enter the password during setup.

Easy to set up and for a free version has great functionality as you can browse all files on remote device including any external drives which other free apps I've tried have charged had that as a paid feature! Definitely willing 2 consider purchasing extra features if it keeps running this well... Thanks

This App is EXACTLY what i was looking for. Not only is my phone now a remote control for the vlc program on my laptop, but i can steam video or music from one to the other! Wonderful job, guys! Cheers!

Tried this app as a potential replacement for "remote for vlc". It has a great interface and found vlc on the first try but it needs a widget. Minus a star for no widget.

Couple of annoyances though...can't get subtitles and other advanced controls to work. This might be my problem rather than the app. Couple of missing features, though minor: no stop button and no way to jump straight to my default media folder. Also, when navigating up to parent, does not remember where in parent I was scrolled to-a real problem in big dirs. But in every other respect, amazing app :-)

Finally found what I need: a streaming CLIENT for VLC. Thank you!

4 stars because some times it takes a while to Connect to computer. But I love it when watching movies on Tv via laptop hdmi.

Best ui of the vlc remotes, good functionality. Streaming is still broke as of 2.0.5 which is a shame. One suggestion, implement a bookmark system so you can resume where youve left off in a given file :-)

Updated to newest vlc turned off firewall. Does not work. It see's my device. Shows a green symbol but when trying to use remote it turns red. The web interface works fine this program does not.

Great remote, would really like a speed +/- function. That would be the cherry on top. Good work.

It doesn't do anything. It connected to computer, but pressing on any buttons has zero effect. If there are any meaningful functions here, they are buried in crappy UI. Developers clearly have no idea of how to create usable interfaces.

I was happy that, initially, this seemed to be the best remote plus stream app I've tried thus far, but sadly this is not the case. Why do I not have any audio? I repeat, while streaming to my Asus TF101 I am not getting a hint of sound. This displeases me.

This is the least intuitive app I have ever used. I even paid for the pro streaming one. Not to mention the inability to easily change a port on the new VLC for my PC. My be cool if I could actually get it to work

You can't lock Android screen rotation to portrait, so every time I go to pick it up it rotates, very annoying. But this remote has more controls than any other vlc remote, like skip 10s!! Please include the ability to lock screen to portrait in a future version, because then this would be my favorite app!

Used versión 2.01 and ics and all functions so far have worked perfectly. Lag is very low and very user friendly gui.

Finally. I've downloaded and tried out so many VLC controllers, I lost count. They didn't work. Or they did work but not very well. Or they were too confusing out of the box. Very aggravating. Finally, I stumbled across VLC HD Remote and ten minutes later, I was sitting across the room and managing videos on my PC. Beautiful. If you aren't a total VLC geek, read the pop-up instructions and you really can't miss. I thought streaming video to my device would be fraught with aggravation, but once I read the help files, it was a go. Setting the RTSP session timeout to -1 proved to be the only adjustment I needed to make (and trust me, I'm no VLC expert.) This app does what all the others promise to do.

Does exactly what it says. Took a little bit of tweaking even following the directions but only because my vlc needed additional packages installed(I'm on Linux). Once I was up and running, this app worked better than I imagined. Keep up the great work!

This is a very good app that serves it's purpose well. It could use some interface improvements and is lacking a few features, like rearranging the playlist, or showing that the play mode is on shuffle. But it works well, and is very useful. I only use this as a remote, and do not stream with it.
