SID Player for Android
Omg. I was just trying to find a way to play a simple MIDI from the 80's Portal game. Was led from Toronto to Timbuktu and still haven't heard the sounds I was looking for. Am I missing something with this app, or was I led astray??
Really love the pure sound from this app, however it would be nice to have a few extra things, like favorites or a folder type thingy to keep track of certain tracks. Separate folders for the official C64 game tracks and another for the homebrew tracks would be helpful. An option to let tracks loop would be fantastic as well. Not a bad app though!
But not without flaws. Wish I could add music and delete the songs from the list I don't like. Also fast forward and vice versa would be more than welcome
its good. sid playback is good but there is a glitch when i scroll up or down, the text goes in all a glitchy mess.
Whenever I task switch to another software and back, the in-app menu stops working so I can't change tracks. Otherwise nice and simple, but unusable in its current state :(
I love SID music but this app disaspointed me. Mainly for missing filter/sid type selector option and/or better ReSid emulation. This degrades these C64 musics too much..

Some awesome tunes but needs a 'Favourites' selection system, and a download option (if viable). With them it's easily five stars.
"PLEASE" put in a random button in this! Great for long drives or boring work days. Can't have radio in cubicles so now I play this on phone. Co-workers love it. Boss not so much.
Can't beat the commodore 64 for computer music
It is very hard to find sids. No hvsc folders or artist folders. Very simple GUI
Great that HVSC comes preinstalled, but the lack of playlist or favourite functions really hurts its day to day usability. Fine if you just play the odd track, but these omissions make it fiddly for regular listeners.
Comes with thousands of songs, all of which are presented in a single alphabetical list. The search function helps a little bit, but seems to return results in arbitrary order.
Excellent for Sids on the go but really needs a proper search function, play list support, and the ability to order by composer. That said it is the best Sid player on android..
5/5 stars for prior version. Search function is awful. Be wary of updates.
Has a whole lot of songs, what I find lacking is the interface. I don't remember any of the names of any of the songs I heard on my C=64 growing up, so finding anything worth listening to is a bit tricky. I really wish I had shuffle and repeat.. oh and favorites!!! I wish I could make a play list with songs I like. I'm not gonna go and remember song names. As it is now, it's just a hit or miss. Oh and the list flickers and text floats into a unreadable mess every time I scroll with my finger.
So it does play the music, I grant you. Having access to all of the tracks is all well and good, but really you'd want a search, a way to add tracks to a favourites or playlist(s). Just trying to scroll to a specific track is very hard. Also, swipe scrolling (ie not using the grey square on the right) doesn't render properly on my OnePlus2.
Other than that, it's great.
Ive used the HVSC sid stuff heaps on pc. Excellent that its now on droid, but the search is flawed somewhat. Can we have a search-by-author filter as minimum? Search by original game would be great also. As much as the SID composers are fantastic and full credit to them, Im really only interested in the games i grew up playing and would love to filter out the unneccessaru other 6000 tracks :)
But needs some updates....some little things would make this app a musthave for sidlovers!!! I say improving searching by author, loop play feature (very important certain sids are really short and made for loop playback) and maybe a little mixingboard with only option to switch on/off the channels...sid has three voice only so would be simple and ergonomic....that would be great for everyone interested to study in deep the sids or even for ear training applications.
It crashes quite a lot and the ui is clunky. Other than those 2 gripes its brilliant to hear all the world's sid tunes on my phone.
Please add support for custom SID files. People are still making them today and it would be nice if this program could handle those files.
The SID emulation wasn't close, but a great selection of tracks.
Very, very cool. Imo this would be even cooler with a star next to track for adding to favorites. Thank you for such a great app.
Player is fine, search is very basic, great possibilities for improvements! ;-) (which means that the gui is still a nightmare. :))
Is more than 6581 only, what happened with 8580 in your proggy? :) Also I can't hear filter emulation at all, try newest resid

Wow this is totally awesome play all the old C64 game music right off the net. Now all that is needed is a App that will do the same for Amiga MOD music
But I want to lock screen widget and shuffle play :(
Why can't it also play separate sids downloaded from elsewhere?
While this has the best emulation of the SID chip compared to other apps, it's inability to transfer the very large HVSC file to SD card makes it very demanding of internal memory, which can be troublesome for those with a locked phone suffering from bloatware.
Used to work perfect more there is a high rate of songs making app crash
Sadly, it just doesn't seem right playing many of these songs without a proper loop point. Aside from that, it's great to hear nonstop C64.
I never realised there were so many c64 games. When I find ones I had it's great to hear the soundtrack again.
Great app that brought back many memories. I'd like to be able to mark all played songs
I'm new to this software so cannot comment on older versions, however, I agree with others. 90% of the tracks included I will never play, you only need so many Oxygene remixes ;) Would also be nice if you could create a 'favourites' list as with other SID programs (if you already can I can't find it sorry)
It plays the SID's great! But would be nice, if you could make your own playlists. I really hope it will be added. I'd even pay for it then! :-)
It's like taking a step back in time to when the C64 & Spectrum/ Amstrad were duking it out for top spot of the 8bit home computer market in the UK. I was Atari myself but my brother had a Commodore C=64 & it was a great machine, quite fast, Software Sprites, 16 colours, good graphics. ...& The SID Chip. Like I said....AWESOME!!!
How am I supposed to seek a tune through a long unsorted list?

Didn't even realize this was going to come with all those songs.... Just wanted to play one that I downloaded lol. That's cool and all but how about some settings. Like play one song and stop... Play one repeatedly. Play locally stored files.... Delete files that you included.... Create favorite list. I see no way to adjust anything what do ever including the Google tracking option you give on first start up. This is great but needs lots of work. Just dropped this from 4 to 2 stars as after I wrote this I started reading other reviews and people have been asking for these options for 6 years so I guess it's not happening. It was free I guess but 2 star app without some functionality.
