About Bike Route Planner (& Tracker)
The Bike Route Planner is a tool to assist route planning and navigation, and many other tasks related to cycling and walking. Routes can be shared with others, and are then available at www.bikerouteplanner.net.
Routes can also be recorded, based on GPS readings. Tracks can be adjusted to the ground altitude.
Possible routes are shown on top of Google maps, with colors representing different inclinations. This is of vital importance to bikers and hikers, that frequently prefer to avoid steep slopes. The route's highest and lowest points are also depicted graphically, through 'peak' and 'valley' icons.
Routes can be analyzed on the map, by their coloring, or through their summary and details, accessible from the menu. They can also be saved on the phone's storage, for future reference. An altitude profile graph is available, to better visualize the elevations along the route.

Info about bike routes is available for Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the US. Other countries' users can plan routes based on normal roads.
The application is configurable. It may use metric or imperial distance units. It can be set to always show your location, and also to keep the map centered on it. Some data about you can be entered, to support estimation of calorie consumption.
Although BikeRoutePlanner is not directed to car drivers, it is also possible to search routes for automobiles.
Several new features will be added shortly. Further down the development road-map is the implementation of several other features, that will make Bike Route Planner a complete companion for your cycling and hiking activities.

I must be honest I downloaded this for cycling so I could make routes and save them... I saw this and thought woow this could be great. Don't download this as you will record a route save it..then when you come back to it it won't be there...this isn't just a one off it does it all the time ...it is terrible. :(

Once you get how it works, it's pretty good and useful. Only gripe would be that the waypoints don't specify order, so it can be hard to get the route you really want, especially if you happen to plot a route that crosses over itself.

App looks promising but has a long way to go to be useful. This is a beta version really. It needs: -Way more available waypoints. About 10 is current max. I want to pre-plan a ride along a specific path not necessarily the most direct. That requires lots of waypoints. Tried to use this for a simple SF ride: Embarcadero BART - Best Buy - Mojo Bike Café - Legion of Honor - 24th/Mission BART. I quickly ran out of waypoints trying to route along the streets I wanted to take. Needs at least 4 or 5 times more waypoints. -It's great there's a website to plan and save routes on your computer but sadly you can't load them in the phone app. A route on my computer is useless if I can't take it with me in my phone. -Options for Bike Friendly or Bike as Traffic routing is nice but better balance is needed. It decided going 3 blocks up University in Berkeley was not Bike Friendly so routed me 4 blocks out of the way on Hearst. -Having to click thru the "bike directions are beta" warning each time I make a change while routing is annoying. One warning is more than plenty to keep your lawyers happy. Will keep it installed hoping for progress but not really useful to me as-is.

Very helpful to plan a route that can be followed later on with Oruxmaps. Unfortunately the elevation gain is completely wrong, always much bigger. Please fix it. It would be great to have other map providers more than google map.

Had to figure out that you plot your origin and destination first then tweak the route with way points instead of plotting it origin, way points, then destination. It does what I wanted therefore 5 stars. Word.

Well, it works for me, and I find it very useful indeed. Just moved to a new city, and it's great at figuring out routes from point A to point B, detailing distance and time taken. User interface could be a little smoother (being able to enter a post code for instance, like I can on Maps), hence a 4* rating.

Need a bigger and more clear symbol for current location, it will make easier to see especially when using it in tracking. A common bold arrow symbol like in most navigation maps will do.

Best route planning app I've found so far. I would like to see elevation chart in imperial measurements and all wayfare points show miles/feet.

Won't load route details or summary, but does show route on map which is more than I can say about Google map app and the dozens of other apps I tried. Looking forward to an update. Keep the good work!!!
