About The Alternative Dictionaries
The classical web site "The Alternative Dictionaries" is now available in app form. With more than 28,000 entries in over 140 languages, this is a major resource for non-standard and taboo language.
Created in 1995, The Alternative Dictionaries web site was one of the first well-known collaborative web projects. Since then, the entries have been replaced by extracts from Wiktionary, eliminating a lot of duplicate work.
The entries are subject to Wiktionary license terms, which are described in detail on wiktionary.org and in the app. The terms include the right to copy any derivative works, provided the source is credited.
The entries presented here are based on Wiktionary entries, filtered, reformatted and adapted to presentation by individual languages in app form. Corrections and additions of entries can be done at wiktionary.org, and will be updated in the app at irregular intervals.
