Solar Compass is an android application that uses the current Sun or Moon position in order to find the true geographic poles.
Select a mode (Sun or Moon) and choose if you want your location to be found by GPS or defined by hand. When the dial stops rotating, point the Sun or Moon symbol to the respective celestial body and you get the exact cardinal directions.

This is great. It works. Best of all, it doesn't need any unnecessary permissions. If I have to ask for one improvement, the app should give me the option to enter location manually the first time I run it. ATM, I have to turn on GPS to start using. That's no big deal though.
