Mountain Navigator Free for Android
Great app
I often use this in conjunction with Viewranger and it is spot on. Very useful app. For those with GPS issues Samsung is notoriously poor getting a fix. If you have a rooted phone try "Faster GPS" and change NTP time server default on your phone closer to home! Also in advanced settings Switch on AGPS. You can also calibrate Agps with the "GPS Status Toolbox" app. I also highly recommend "GPS-aids" which will do all of the above. Fix your phone first before assuming this app is the problem. It isnt!
Useful to find which map to use but not what I thought it would be.

Great app, good support from author. Latest version works on ZTE blade (Orange San Francisco)
Cant download ....???
Does nothing
I often use this in conjunction with Viewranger and it is spot on. Very useful app. I have a weird problem with it disappearing occsionally. The screen icon goes missing. I check the Applications and the icon is missing. I then check the system application manager, it shows a greyed out android icon listed as "mountain identifier" Weird. I have to uninstall/download/reinstall. Always reinstalls to my external SD card where I originally put it. Have moved it onboard this time to see if it does it again.
Getting the same error as others... waiting on gps when using the navigator. I imagine this would be a really good app if this issue was fixed.
Does exactly what it says. Brilliant. Thanks.
Radar stalls at "waiting for gps".
Camera and radar fail to display correctly. Though the data is very accurate.
app works perfectly. clear instructions and easy to use, defiantly worth the download. fun to see what hills are what e.t.c and the new version with added lakes makes it even more useful for when i'm going on walks :D thanks for a gr8 app
Great does what it says works perfectly.
Switching to navigate mode, when flat usually get just the rectangle drawn and eventually the display times out. In portrait or landscape mode the rectangle is drawn with the waiting for gps text and again the display always times out (set for a minute). Google maps always finds the location correctly in seconds.
Only lists hills. Navigator function doesn't work for me otherwise it would be 5* ! Maybe one day it can be fixed for Galaxy Ace. Hope it will be soon as in principle it sounds excellent.
for galaxy y.great for locating mountains can be a little slow waiting for the gps.it works where i live on the isle of man!!
In the shadow of the Matterhorn it gives the message "no hills found". Also very slow to acquire GPS. Uninstalled
Navigator modes doesn't work, hangs in the waiting for GPS signal mode. Local hills works fine though. Weird.
Used it today at the top of Ben Arthur and it picked all the nearby peaks and it was very accurate, very impressed!
Doesnt work, constant crashes.
Used this app today it worked really well named the hills I was on and also points the way to the top of the hill your walking to
Not a map replacement but a map supplement. Great for confirming what you think you are looking at is what you are actually looking at.
Brilliant,Does not need internet access to name hills, that is where similar apps failed.U.K only.
Nothing else like it in the market, great app for walking, a must! Bought straight away to support the development.
Wouldn't work at all.
Would be very usefull if it worked
