Wallburg Tönsberg

Ausgehend vom Archäologischen Freilichtmuseum Oerlinghausen führt der GPS-Erlebnispfad auf den Tönsberg, eine der bedeutensten vor- und frühgeschichtlichen Höhensiedlungen im nördlichen Deutschland. Auf dem Pfad „Wallburg Tönsberg“ passieren Sie u.a. bronzezeitliche Hügelgräber auf dem Kamm des Tönsbergs. Im Streckenverlauf können Sie sich mit Hilfe der App über Erdwälle, Gräben, Terrassen und Tore, die als Befestigung die ca. 7 ha große Wallburg umschlossen haben, informieren. Eine alte Kapellenruine, „Hünenkapelle“ oder auch „Tönskapelle“ genannt, die im Innern der Wallburg liegt, erinnert an eine spätere Nutzung im 15. Jahrhundert des Tönsbergs als Wallfahrtsort. Die Wanderung zur Wallburg auf dem Tönsberg, auch Sachsenlager genannt, lohnt sich nicht nur aus archäologischer Sicht, sondern hat auch als besonderen landschaftlichen Reiz wunderschöne Ausblicke ins lippische Bergland und in die Sennelandschaft zu bieten.

Der GPS-Erlebnispfad Wallburg Tönsberg ist gefördert durch das Ministerium für Klimaschutz, Umwelt, Landwirtschaft, Natur- und Verbraucherschutz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen. Die Umsetzung des Erlebnispfades wird unterstützt durch den Naturpark Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge, die Biologische Station Lippe, die NRW-Stiftung und das Lippische Landesmuseum Detmold.


GPS-Erlebnisregion

Der GPS-Erlebnispfad „DünenLeben“ ist Teil der GPS-Erlebnisregion Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge, die bereits drei mal von der UNESCO als offizielles Projekt der UN-Dekade „Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung“ ausgezeichnet wurde.

Starting from the Archaeological Freilichtmuseum Oerlinghausen leads the GPS trail to Tönsberg, one of the most important prehistoric and early historic hilltop settlements in northern Germany. On the path "Wallburg Tönsberg" You happen i.a. Bronze Age burial mounds on the crest of Tönsbergs. In route you can be informed by using the app on earth walls, trenches, terraces and gates that have enclosed as attachment the approximately 7-hectare Wallburg. An old chapel ruins, "Megalithic Chapel" or "Tönskapelle" called, which lies inside the Wallburg, reminiscent of a future use in the 15th century the Tönsbergs as pilgrimage. The hike to Wallburg on the Tönsberg, also called Sachsenlager, worthwhile not only from an archaeological point of view, but also as a special scenic charm wonderful views into lippische Bergland and the Senne landscape has to offer.

The GPS-trail Wallburg Tönsberg is sponsored by the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia. The implementation of the adventure trail is supported by the Teutoburg Forest / Egge Hills Nature Park, Biological Station Lippe, the NRW Foundation and the Museum of Lippe Detmold.

The GPS-trail "dunes life" is part of the GPS Adventure Park Teutoburger Wald / Eggegebirge that was times been awarded "Education for Sustainable Development" by UNESCO as an official project of the UN Decade three.
