The TextToTV-app let's you text a message to the TV using Google Chromecast. Say Hello to your TV with this simple app! You can fill in a message in the textfield and send this to TV by using the button.
This app is used to demonstrate the capabilities of the Android platform with the Google Chromecast: the Chromecast has it's own receiver which reacts on the signals send by a app on an Android smartphone.
This app can also be used to scare or fool someone who is watching something on the Chromecast.
Required:
* TV with Google Chromecast
* Android smartphone with TextToTV-app and with Google Play Services installed
* Chromecast device and Android smartphone connected to same WiFi-network.
* Working internet connection

How cool would it be to send messages to a screen as a pop window? Imagine your kids watching a movie and you want to send a message asking to turn it down. Or a party where music is playing via Chromecast and guests can just send a message to the screen.

The idea of the app is good. However, the implementation of it in its current state is crap. The app just gives you a single white line of text of a black background. It also doesn't recognize new lines of text. Might be cool in it was able to use the scrolling background images when the chromecast is ideal and just show a semi transparent window with the text.
