NoSurge - Avoid Uber Surge for Android
**Requires user to have the Uber app installed in order to hail a ride from a given location**
This works for UberX, UberBlack, UberSUV, and any other Uber products in your region.
Drivers, you can also use this app to find places near you where there is the highest surge as to be able to increase your fares!
Uber's API limits the number of fare quotes on an hourly basis, so do not spam this app with requests, or you may find yourself temporarily unable to access the application.
I was inspired to build this app after seeing no Android alternative for SurgeProtector (a app with a similar purpose for iOS)
Any and all feedback welcome. This is a personal project and my first app, so it will only get better :)
I always check this app after a concert or show. Walk 1 block and save $5. Fantastic simple app.
Great app. Can it default to UberX instead of UberBlack?
Barebones app. Only shows a very small default area of a few blocks, and will zoom to that area annoyingly. Useless for drivers ;)
Free $15 Uber ride using: UBERFREE20TRIP use this app to help you avoid taking surge rides just by walking a block or two!
Why does anyone hate this app? It's the only one that even remotely does what it should!
Seems to work for me despite previous reviews and the developers seem really on top of known issues.
I tried it again as per your instructions. Still not working.
It said it couldn't find any Ubers in downtown Atlanta after a basketball game. It asked if I was sure I was in an Uber service area! I just waited about 10 minutes for the Surge Pricing to end.
I like it and it's clear to the point. Thank you.
Is a joke
Doesn't work
Does what it says
Currently only displays uber x in my area, not XL or select though. Uber x is getting pretty bad so I always request XL or select and you get an English speaking driver and a nicer ride. Please let us toggle to them also
It looks like it was built for phones with smaller resolutions, it doesn't quite fit the screen. Would be nice of you could extend the search area more than the default size. Also I get a forbidden screen if I refresh 3 or 4 times within a five minute window. Would be a better app if it was developed a little more.
Also, the colors on the surge filter popup are poorly desgined: dark font on dark background... can't see it in daylight! EDIT: Delay seen on 4GLTE. edit: issue was fixed.
People use this app to drop a pin outside a surge zone, then request the driver into the surge zone by text or call. Be warned, drivers may choose to start the trip at the pin, or may submit the fare for review to get surge charge added retroactively, or both.
Not
Excellent
This is a warning uber to passengers. Attempting to use this trick may actually end up costing you more money. Any smart driver is going to be aware of this trick and will not go to another location to pick you up. You will be asked to cancel and request another uber and possibly face a $5 cancellation fee. If the driver shows up to the location and you aren't there they can cancel the ride as a no show and you WILL be charged a $5 cancellation fee. Just giving you a heads up.
Sidecar doesn't have surge pricing so we go to where the uber surge is and win big in competition.
Didnt think this app would actualy work, but it does. It could look alot nicer and waste alot less space plus be able to view other areas on the map other than my own location (when booking for others) however overall im still happy cos it does what its suppose to and that saves me money! Thank you dev -Free Uber ride when you enter Uber Promo code: UBERUBERISCOOL
Pretty good, searches walking distance for non-surge. Minor bug: it starts in Washington DC so you have to find your location manually.
Really tells you where the surges are low or higher just hold and click okay but this app needs smother ui and update plzzz
Works good!
I think I will be okay just started and I'm doing good.
Also use code LUR3G and you can take your first uber ride free
Cause i'ts all I got besides uber.... wish that the map would update to my current location rather than having to refresh constantly. map is automatcally set to cover washington-- and im in san francisco. Please change this!
Great app to avoid surge and use code 9iugs to get your first ride for free!!!!

Interface could be better but very useful
Works great
There is a lot of wasted space on the screen, using the web view of Google Maps instead of actually integrating it into the app makes it much slower and harder to use, using pins to define rates at specific points is not helpful since it provides no insight as to what the actual boundaries of the surge zones are. You can't look at surge rates for a wide area, it only lets you see a zoomed in view. It is easier to open the Uber app and move the pointer around to find the surge information. This app also only seems to have ads for sleazy dating/hookup sites.

Me and my girlfriend waited for almost one and a half hour, but the rates didn't get lower. I found this app in a business insider article. The rates were around 2.0 and I was able to a rate of 1.3 in one minute a few blocks away. Thanks!!
