The landscape of disability services is facing an important moment in history as the number of Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities is increasing and the baby boomer generation is aging. Simultaneoulsy, the desire and expectation for individualized, community services rings louder and louder from individuals and families and throughout federal and state policies. In order to succeed at this new realm of service provision, a reliable, experienced, and steady workforce will be essential. As vacancy rates increase and the gaps of employed staff widen, the issue of workforce is an urgent one.
