BLE OTA for Android
This firmware updater doesn't work 50% of time (generous-it really need to be lower). This sh#t, bricked my kiwi. Now I need to send my kiwi for repair. I believe the fair thing for this updater is to pay for every kiwi it bricked. This updater probably will put something like, "we held no responsibility for this app. Your are on your own risk. " I really doubt the developer care what we think.
NOTE for Kiwi3 Users: Zentri is very sympathetic to all users that are having issues with OTA updates of Kiwi3. However, Zentri BLE OTA was NOT designed to update third-party products such as Kiwi3. We have asked PLX multiple times to stop telling people to use Zentri BLE OTA to update Kiwi3, and instead to provide an OTA app specifically for the Kiwi3 product. Unfortunately PLX have not heeded our requests. Rather than risk using Zentri BLE OTA to update your Kiwi3, I urge you to instead petition PLX to develop an OTA app specifically for Kiwi3. Thanks, Jason.
I read the reviews after using this App - huge mistake. Not everybody reads the reviews when recommended to use certain software to update a device. The developer could very easily put a simple warning within the App about the lack of compatibility with third party devices. My Kiwi3 was rubbished by this updater. I understand that the developer has asked Kiwi3 PLX to stop recommending the use of this software but that does not absolve him from the responsibility of ensuring that someone who uses his software isn't properly informed in the App of a serious problem that he already knows about
Kiwi 3, let it update to 2.0.0.1 by accident, broke the kiwi but could still connect with this app, was able to update to plx-1.5.0.2 kiwi worked after that. Update method is not intuitive but even after messing up was still able to fix.
App is just OK. I believe it is not intended only for PLX Kiwi 3. The process of upgrading the firmware (described in a YouTube video) is confusing for average end users. I think there should be more warnings about the need for plx- prefix, which is the root cause of the 'bricking'.
Kiwi3 now just a dim led torch. Doesn't connect or show up in scans.
This got my Kiwi 3 finally working with the Torque app on my Nexus 5X.
