L’applicazione Area Storica nasce per valorizzare e diffondere tutto il patrimonio storico, presente sul Portale della Difesa e nei siti delle Forze Armate.

Inoltre, essendo il 2014 la ricorrenza del Centenario della Grande Guerra, si è cercato di dare risalto anche a questo avvenimento inserendo delle sezioni dedicate agli eventi correlati con la possibilità di interrogare in tempo reale la banca dati dei Caduti in Guerra del Ministero della Difesa.

L'integrazione con il mondo Social è completo poiché, ogni informazione, video o foto presenti sull'applicazione, possono essere condivisi sul proprio profilo di Facebook e Twitter oppure inviati tramite email.

Infine l’applicazione permetterà, qualora fosse presente un link all’interno di una notizia, la navigazione tramite un mini browser interno.
