About Reconnect Garmin watch
GCMRunner keeps the connection to your watch alive and reconnects the watch after being away from phone. It runs in the background and battery usage is very low.
The app works for Fenix 3/5 and Forerunner 235/735XT/920 and others. For vivoactive/vivosmart it works in some cases. I cannot guarantee it will work for your particular phone and watch.
When you run the app the first time, it will start Setup. Please follow the instructions exactly.
NOTE: Before you give my app a bad review then please consider that I only have one watch and phone to test on. I understand the frustration you have, but I am doing this app for free and in my spare time. I am NOT from Garmin. If you want to complain about your watch then write to Garmin. If you have questions regarding my app or connection issues then write to me, and I will try to help.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
A) If the watch keeps showing NO CONNECTION:
Try each of the following and see if it works
* Turn the phone screen on and unlock (sometimes this helps because the phone is hiberbating)
* Open Garmin Connect, Go to Settings - Garmin devices, Check that your watch is still added!
* If it's already added then go to GCMRunner and press the "Re-pair" button.
* If that doesn't work then restart the phone

B) If the watch shows it's CONNECTED but you don't get notifications:
* Open Garmin Connect and select Settings - Smart Notifications. Disable and enable one of the notifications, like Incoming Calls. This could make Connect ask for permissions.
* If it keeps asking for permissions even though you gave permission then restart the phone.

I have tried and tried to connect my vivofit to garmin connect. I followed everything this app has told me. The vivo is connected to the phone but will garmin connect still does not complete the setup. Very frustrated

Hey Martin, great app thanks. Didn't work with my forerunner 935 and Galaxy A7, since OS and app upgrade I haven't been able to connect and Garmin can't seem to help. In your app I get to 5/5, B4 and the watch just doesn't show. It connects just fine to my old S5 so I'm thinking something to do with the OS update is the cause. Am fine with other BT devices. Thanks anyway

Very helpful in trying to get my Garmin device to pair. Garmin has some serious bug issues that they refuse to fix. Sadly, this app is needed.

Thank for for creating this app to "fix" Garmin's Bluetooth issues since they cannot be bothered to patch their app/software. I can only hope that one day Garmin get their heads out of their _____ and fixes the issue themselves so I don't need a secondary app!

Thankyou thankyou thankyou!!! I was so angry and fed up trying to get my vivoactive HR to connect to my S7. Spent hrs reading and trying different things. Your app, after a bit of mucking around with step 5, finally got it connected for the first time in a month! Hooray! Now i havent wasted $300!

Great for swimming shows me how many strokes I do per length. How long each stroke is 3.2 metres! Helps me focus on longer stronger strokes.

I really like the app. It helps the Garmin stay connected to the connect application. The only thing I would like is for somebody to tell me how I prevent the warning notifications from coming up all the time on my phone and vibrating each time bluetooth has disconnected. EDIT: Blocking notifications for the Connect app solved the problem! Thanks Martin!

The app is great in reconnecting BT, but unfortunately I am unable to get any notifications on my fenix 3 hr. I followed your troubleshooting tips but its still not working. I have allowed all permissions. When I go to smart notifications in Connect app, I get a pop-up to allow permissions repeatedly, even after I have allowed them. Any solutions?

Gets around all the deficiencies of how Google and Garmin can't sort out their BT connectivity issues! Where my FR235 was dropping BT on a 20 interval, over and over, this has entirely solved the issue!!

Tried over and over for my fenix 5s no help at all. Did step by step nice try. After a phone software update and some uninstall restall/unconnect reconnect it works! Was finicky but working great now thankyou.
