FEATURES:
- Free FTP Server
- UTF-8 support
- Restrict connections to selected wireless networks
- Access while on 3G (if supported by the mobile network)
- Restrict access to specific folder
- Verbose log output to trace connections/access and help in error solving
- Remote shutdown with custom ("SITE SHUTDOWN" command)
- Tasker and Locale Plugin Support

NOTE about permissions:
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and READ_PHONE_STATE are implicitly added, because of compatibility to 1.5 devices (see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1747178/android-permissions-phone-calls-read-phone-state-and-identity) for an explanation. Since there is still people with 1.5 using my FTPServer, I do not want to set the minimum required permission to a higher version.

I love this and I've been using it for a while on my other phones. Connecting over USB cable to android can be such a pain. With this I just turn on the server. Connect. Copy. Done. No messing around hoping my phone will turn up in explorer or only being able to access a small part of the filesystem. Best of all. No adverts. The creator has made a simple and functional ftp server without bloat. I rate this program 11/10 :)

by D####:

Saves me having to connect my phone via cable to transfer pictures and files. File transfers couldn't be easier. Really easy to setup and works perfectly. I love the simple interface, which is functional without being overkill, allowing me to see what is going on. I have it setup as a bookmark in my file browser, so files are just a single click away. Running on Marshmallow (6.0.1).

by K####:

I'm not sure whether I'm doing something wrong, but I've followed every tutorial out there, and according to those, I should be able to select my folders in default directory. However, whenever I try to tap it, there's no response (as in it just shows a "/" and I can't go further from there) i have given it permission to access everything it needs to. rest of it seems to work fine, but this issue makes the app unusable. It may be because I'm using android nougat and it's not optimised for that yet

I was having various issues getting files to and from my phone and Windows machines. I gave up and went back to good old FTP. Problem solved! And, this great little app is perfect for that issue.

D70%
by D####:

The app goes straight to the settings page when you first launch it. At first I didn't realize this and it took me a few minutes to figure out I need to hit the back button and then hit Start Server.

K70%
by K####:

Yes, it didn't updated for a long time but it's still works smoothly but it unfortunately didn't have permission for external memory card available. This makes app not a very usable for me.

by E####:

I needed this and very happy using it. Please note I could not see ext sd card using Browser interface . But I installed Filezilla ftp client and it works as expected. Thanks a lot.

Crashes with lollipop on nexus four. Freezes phone. Everything else on my phone works fine. Maybe its because the phone was encrypted?

K70%
by K####:

On my other android devices, works fine. On this device it won't let me change the default directory. Don't know if the problem is the device or Android N.

O70%
by O####:

This works every time, samsung 3, nexus 7, lg g2. Some ftp servers do not implement all the commands, this one always works against the clients we developed. Really excellent, with back ground service and useful debug log

W70%
by W####:

It used to work great. Now I get an error that the phone is set not to accept connections. Cannot fix error. Other ftp servers do not have this problem.

Z70%
by Z####:

Works almost flawlessly. Occasionally times out when transferring huge number of files, and chokes on strange filenames. No big gripes!

K70%
by K####:

2.9.1 works fine but it seems to be stuck at GMT. I'm in AZ with GMT-8 and the files I upload on the server end up with a GMT time, 8 hours ahead. Unfortunately it still doesn't take advantage of Lollipop expended SD card access capability.

N70%
by N####:

Beautiful app, most convenient way I found to access my device via wifi. Much better than, say, Airdroid with its gallons of bloatware.

K70%
by K####:

This app cannot write to SD card since Google broke SD card support in Android 4.4. Not this app's fault and it can be fixed if you root your phone and edit the following system file: /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml

K70%
by K####:

Sometimes directory listing fails, and remote globbing doesn't seem to work with mgets. On the other hand, the device I'm using it on is old and terrible, and no one in the 21st century uses mget.

M70%
by M####:

Apart from that works as advertised.

K70%
by K####:

No issues. Transfered at 89Mb/sec average during a 29gig upload via wifi. Impressive. Usb is slow on android

L70%
by L####:

This app does what it says. And believe me FTP server/client transfer is far stable than normal wifi transfer though both relies on WiFi.

W70%
by W####:

A great, simple FTP app which is not bloated! I love this!

D70%
by D####:

Is this an Android 6 issue maybe? Filezilla says of ftp server: insecure server, it does not support ftp over tls. Could not connect to server

D70%
by D####:

Very convenient app to wirelessly push/pull files from a PC, using the decent keyboard/file browser on the PC. Easier than doing it on the phone itself using eg an ftp client.

D70%
by D####:

Need some setup, but it is straightforward when you have basic understanding about FTP. Good app!

O70%
by O####:

I was able to connect to server but when I try transferring a file like a movie file it save it as a link to server instead of downloading it to my pc.

D70%
by D####:

Won't let me assign a port number lower than 1023 which makes the app useless for me.

D70%
by D####:

I guess I should have known since that hasn't been updated in a year but I couldn't make a connection.

D70%
by D####:

Minimal app that does just what it says, and doesn't leave lingering services running after you stop FTP. Optional restriction to specific WiFi networks for more security. Real-time log window is useful for debugging transfer issues. Setup requires a little knowledge of FTP and doesn't hand-hold. I tried many others and this is the one I settled on.

N70%
by N####:

Best Best Best..... No nonsence, very sleek and agile app.. This app is one of the few extensively used apps in my phone..

D70%
by D####:

Simple, fast, ad-free. This is a minimalist app that's truly free. It does exactly what it needs to do without anything extraneous to get in the way, without ads, and without any upselling. FYI, Tasker integration isn't documented very well -- it's found under Plugins in the Tasker action choice list, for whoever else might be looking.

W70%
by W####:

passes privacy scan.would like to see secure version allowing lower port no.s

R70%
by R####:

The app loses a star because of its clumsy interface and, especially, the awkwardness of setting it up if you don't know quite what the fields mean. The default directory should be the SD card, not root — most users are not rooted experts. But, once set up, this app works flawlessly and instantly without any fuss, every time. I don't see any need to ever use a USB connection again. For this, and the fact that there are no ads, it regains its lost star.

R70%
by R####:

Does not work over Internet It works perfectly fine on my LAN, but over the Internet, I get the error 200 Switching to mode TYPE A 227 Entering Passive Mode (Int,ern,al,IP,128,32) And yes, I port forwarded.

W70%
by W####:

Would request ability to gain root access - which is even more needed now to counter Google's blunder of removing write permission from External SD cards in Kitkat.

R70%
by R####:

This was recommended by a friend of mine who is privacy conscious. If I want to transfer files very quickly between the PC and smartphone or tablet works great over wi fi!

V70%
by V####:

I've been using it for a long time, in every device I have and always does his job.

R70%
by R####:

Has features others don't, like enabling only for certain networks. It doesn't support to have wildcard support for mget. It simply says that the file does not exist. Would be helpful for some of my needs, but overall still a solid FTP server.

Using ES File Manager to act as the ftp client on my phone, I was able to quickly copy several folders of audio books from my tablet. Other apps like Xender failed miserably. Using Chrome (on my phone), I was able to log in to FTPServer and see all of my files, but not transfer them, so what you're trying to use as the client on the receiving end makes a big difference. 5 stars +++++!

K70%
by K####:

Leave the log view alone, it's perfect. The settings screen could communicate a little better maybe with an OK button that validates settings. But the 1 minute learning curve was fine and I'm quite happy with this app.

M70%
by M####:

It does what it says it does. Using a Nexus 6 coming from a Galaxy Note II, I miss my SD card a little bit. Instead of USB mass storage, modern android phones use MTP, which isn't very reliable for me. This FTP server does a great job with handling my file transfers. I have yet to encounter any reliability issues. The only thing I wish it had was maybe SFTP as an option especially for FTP over the internet, since FTP is not a secure protocol. Great app! Would recommend.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I've tested it for the past day, and found out that I can set a static IP on my Android device, set FTP Server to run on device boot, configure it to serve on the static IP, enter the IP into Windows' "Add a Network Location," and basically just treat the Android device exactly like a local folder, without having to manually switch anything on or off. Doesn't suck up much battery that I can see, so I can just keep it running in the background, where it runs without complaint or intrusion. Perfect job!
