About TeXPortal (60% off)

IMPORTANT: Towards the end of December 2015, our team members found more meaningful purpose in mathematical research. As a result, we shall no longer provide support for this software i.e. we will not answer email queries and troubleshooting. We decided to make a price cut to $9.99 (from $25; we only received $5; the rest goes to Google and local authority in form of tax). Thank you for your support thus far.

By purchasing this app, you acknowledge that (i) this app is provided as is and there is no warranty of any form that it works now and in any future versions of Android; (ii) there will not be any support of any kind from us (the publisher).

If you have problems, please consult online forums such as tex.stackexchange.

TeXPortal is a user friendly minimalistic TeX/LaTeX/ConTeXt compiler for Android, supporting major TeX engines such as TeX, pdfTeX, XeTeX, LuaTeX, BibTeX, etc. TeXPortal automatically fixes common TeX issues such as missing packages to save you time.

Example usage: To compile sample ConTeXt document from Wikipedia (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ConTeXt), follow the steps:
(i) install package [context],
(ii) reload context fonts,
(iii) compile with ConTeXt.
To compile sample XeLaTeX document from Wikipedia:
(i) install package [xetex libertine],
(ii) compile with XeLaTeX,
(iii) generate font cache,
(iv) compile again.

For more information, trouble shooting or usage tips, please visit http://lameandroidhero.bitbucket.org/texportal.html If you run into problem, don't hesitate to contact us via email.

DISCLAIMER: THIS SOFTWARE IS BY NO MEAN A REPLACEMENT FOR TEX DISTRIBUTION ON PC. WE DO NOT INTEND TO SUPPORT INTERNATIONALIZATION (NON-ENGLISH TYPESETTING), COMPLICATED FONTS HANDLING (NON-STANDARD FONTS SUCH AS ARIAL, ...) EVEN THOUGH POWER USERS CAN MAKE THEM WORK.

DUE TO SIGNIFICANT DEPENDENCY ON THE ANDROID OS, THIS SOFTWARE IS NEITHER GUARANTEED TO WORK IN NEWER ANDROID VERSION NOR ON A SPECIFIC DEVICE THOUGH IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY IN OUR TESTS ON STANDARD EMULATOR. WE RECOMMEND USERS TO STICK WITH ANDROID 4.1.

Sadly, this app no longer runs on my Android L device, and is no longer supported. A shame. It, coupled with its editor TexPert, used to be the GO to LaTeX apps for Android!

does not run on android 7.0.

One error message after another. Wasted over an hour chasing one missing thing after another. Help file link didn't work. Font and format configuration looked promising but failed. Could not even compile a tiny test paragraph.

I used this app since its beginning and it is not cost-effective for the users, because the developers are not consistent with every release and tend to improvise with the upgrades. Once, the app was removed by developers from Play Store for trivial reasons. It is a good project, but with a limited support for a relatively high cost app. Xelatex and Xetex does not work in Android 4.0.* and below.

K70%
by K####:

Internal PDF viewer is awful and the developer turned off support for external viewers. Consequently, this app is all but unusable.

table of contents in beamer is not being updated upon compilation.

amazing, installing this, fix the "texportal is not installed" bug in texpert (this bug ocurs me with free version). Any way , in combination with texpert its by far the best latex suit in all android, totally worth it (even if i dont eat two days for the price :p )

I can't say enough good things about this app/project. You get the whole texlive distro onb your phone or tablet (or, in my case, phablet).

TeXPortal is essentially a fully functional TeX installation on your device. Think of it as MikTeX or similar, except easier to use, and on your phone or tablet. Along with Texpert for editing and previewing, this is one of the three or so apps that is absolutely mandatory if you write math and own an android. It downloads packages from ctan automatically. So far I have not managed to find a doc that it won't compile. As effective as any TeX anywhere. Knuth would be proud!

Amazing application; must to have for anyone that deals with TeX.
