TeXpert (60% off) for Android
This app used to be the best LaTeX editor for Android on the Play store. Sadly, its no longer supported, and doesn't run properly on my Android L device. It won't open files from a file manager, and it doesn't navigate my file system properly. I can't even GET to my LaTeX files!
Developer ruined it by turning off support for external PDF viewer. The internal one is jerky as hell. Ruined!
I use LuaLaTeX with greek fonts of my choice, it compiles my docs, it splits the screen, for side by side viewing of the source with the pdf. The feel is as if I was working with texworks on TexLive!!! Brilliant work. Μπράβο!!!
Made my graduate advisor jealous.
Syntax highlighting is indeed quite fast, and the ability to use TeX in my Nexus 7 is fantastic. I have the following requests: - Google Drive/Dropbox integration - Dark background theme Keep up the good work!
when i compile on texportal free says "texportal is not installed" even whe its installed (time ago doesnt have this problem) ,but, the full texportal version fix it. in conclusion, the best latex suit on android, congrts and keep it rolling please :)
The app is great and the customer support is second to none.
Nothing else comes close. This app allows you to compose, compile, and view TeX documents all locally on your device. With its sister app, TeXPortal, (which is, IMHO required for full functionality - just pay for it, if you do math I promise you won't regret it), this becomes a fully integrated TeX environment - like a mobile version of texstudio or something. It automatically loads packages, the editor has a mini bar with common TeX symbols, as well as completion of TeX commands. From one app, you can
Outstanding. The only feature that it misses is forward search from tex to pdf and vice versa... otherwise is as good as any desktop latex editor
Some icons are unusual.
Great for writing documents on the go. Tab functionality and disabling the pop-up box when saving would be nice, though.
Always nice to see a dev that corrects issues quickly. Only some minor issues left. 1. Would be nice if it was possible to save a document fully by keyboard. Ctrl-S will bring up the save dialog but still require touch interaction to save the file (in my case hitting enter when viewing the save window either does nothing, or asks me to log into dropbox when I am already on the SD card save tab). 2. It is currently not possible to enter tabs in documents. 3. Text entry is a bit slow and can interrupt workflow by having to stop and wait for the app to catch up to your input.
I bought this app a while ago, when TeXportal was free, and so I paid for a nice and promissing TeX editor. However now it claims that I don't have TeXportal installed (which is wrong), so TeXpert is now useless - unless I pay again. A really neat idea - make a paid app which requires some free apps, and then when people buy it, change those free apps to paid (and make sure that the free versions are no longer recognized).
The app is great but a users manual or a quick start guide would be much appreciated. I can't open the generated PDF file after compiling. It says there is no PDF file to open. I couldn't find a way to contact the creator but I hope they check these comments. Thanks again.
This program crashes on typing the first character on my nexus 7 2013.

Hi, I just installed your TeXportal and was very impressed. I really like it. I thought this editor will do what I wanted to do. Editing and compiling LaTeX in one place. It does that, but I think it's still too expensive for its features. I have Note 2 and in landscape mode, I only see keyboard text area, so I have to use it in portrait mode. But in this mode, I cannot see all the buttons. My suggestions 1. File history 2. Line number 3. Better UI for the portrait mode in phones. 4. Undo/redo Thank
This editor integrates very nicely with the TeXPortal compiler, allowing you to edit LaTeX files on your Android device, compile them and view the resulting PDF output in a previewer. However, there are still some issues, at least on my Nexus 10: 1) The most annoying thing is that the app crashes when switching to a different app, and then returning to TeXpert. I think it does not auto-save the file in this situation either. 2) In the newest version, the editor window does not fill the width of the screen, in landscape mode (I haven't tested portrait). This doesn't really cause problems, but seems to be a waste of screen real estate on wide-screen devices. 3) Each time I compile from TeXpert, I need to confirm running pdflatex. This is a minor annoyance. 4) Perhaps I have missed it, but there does not seem to be a simple "save file" button. It would be useful if ctrl-s could be bound to this function, for those who use bluetooth keyboards. 5) Scrolling seems very slow, particularly in long documents. I haven't tested dropbox integration, as I use dropsync to synchronize my LaTeX folders.
Hard to see what's gone wrong when things don't work. Will be excellent when done, I'm sure.
Fast editing, clear and attractive layout, excellent editor. Well worth it!
Fully functionable and fast Latex for Android. I use it with Asus Transformer TF101 and it is just like using on computer. Only improvement to sugest right now is a faster navigation on the pdf file preview, as we can't skip fast between pages or sections. Keep up the good work!!
