1980년대 이래로 우리나라 연안에서는 산업화 진행과 함께 식물플랑크톤의 대랸발생에 의한 적조현상의 빈도가 두드러지게 증가해왔습니다. 90년대 이래로 적조의 주원인생물이 수산생물과 인간에 유해유독한 와편모조로 변화되면서 암시장등 수산업에 큰 피해를 입혀왔습니다. 이에 우리나라 연안에 발생하는 적조 발생 해역 및 주의보/경보 지역에 대한 정보를 신속하게 전파함으로써 수산업 피해 최소화에 기여하기 위하여 본 프로그램을 개발하게 되었습니다.
