Neo Notes - Neo smartpen N2 for Android
Requests location permission. This is absurd. I guess I will have to grant and deny every time I sync.
Too many bugs. Once a new update comes out, the sync feature stops working until you update.
Onenote integration is the best, the pen is now so much more useful!
Since update I can't connect to my Samsung S6 fail Bluetooth connection
Requires location permissions and refuses to start without.
Permission for what???
Greedy permissions. Requires location and the ability to monitor and make phone calls. Refuses to run without these permissions. Claims they are for registration and 'news & tips notifications', neither of which should need these permissions. Edit: Requires access to all contacts to connect to Google Drive for backup. Claims this is needed to get accounts on device, which isn't true.
The pen and the app work better than had honestly expected. Very well thought out. Impressive how it instantly knows what page of what notebook you are writing on. After years of thinking that smart pens we're odd and not that great an idea, I suddenly realized that there is no tablet and stylus nearly as good as pen and paper. Simply having a portable digital copy and the paper original, and being able to email my diagrams without scanning, super. I started keeping one single Bullet Journal and this is perfect for that. I got the A5 wire bound notebooks, perfect. Wish there was a jump-to-page-no. function. That notebook is 150 pages long! Syncing Neo Notes between two devices is primitive. I use both tablet and phone a lot. You can do it manually with G Drive, but having to upload here, download there every time, FAR from ideal. Can't it auto sync? Can auto sync with One Note but I can't stand One Note. There are a lot of Windows tablets now, why no Windows or PC app?
The app is not working on my Moto G4. I've tried all troubleshooting I can think of, as has my partner. It cycles through startup screens, crashes, etc.. I've tricked the app to bypass the amalgam of ineffective windows, and even after the pen registers the app does nothing besides freeze and crash. It does work on my partner's iPhone though. I'm super bummed. I did a ton of research to decide on a smartpen before I purchased the Neo N2 and, well... Will probably have to deal with the hassle and return it.
The app asks for permission to use my location (why?? It's a pen!!) And for permissions to access my phone calls??!! Disliked the invasiveness enough to consider returning the pen
Really great app for the Neo Smart Pen. Back up, sharing, and transcribing features all work seamlessly on OnePlus 3T. Excellent way to do note taking on the go with just a pen and notebook, but still getting a digital record to edit or share later. Really great tech!
I really like the pen and the app. It is working well and better then I hoped for. Writing recognition is not working for me, but has more to do with my handrwriting. When my daughter is writing recognition is flawless.. I absolutely recommend this pen & app.
Slight issue with random infinite syncing data from pen that takes a long time. Usually goes away by restarting my pen. Hopefully you guys can fix the app.
Invasion of privacy. Sucky app
Resets my ASUS C100PA upon loading
Good app that allows me to make full use of my smart pen. Easy to understand and no problems so far
The app is well designed, however the transcription between pen and app is an issue. It says it does not add "highlight strokes" which essentially means any vertical line letters like (d, p, t, h, etc). By missing these strokes, it means any transcription is inherently botched. Seems like an update can fix it, and fix a lot of reviews here as well.
Couldn't get past first screen, register pen page pops up then closes repeatedly. Completely broken and unusable. Nexus 6p
The app works well and does what it says on the tin. I would really like it to be able to insert images into the notes to boost functionality. I feel the whole package is let down by not having this!
It's pretty decent. The transcription works okay. I have to do a lot of editing afterwards, but I thought that might be the case. My main gripe is the shoddy implementation of voice recording. The app crashed while recording in class today and it constantly freezes when trying to move ahead in the recording by selecting a portion of my notes on the screen. If I can't rely on this for voice notes, why pay the premium for the special pen and paper? I could simply scan my regular notes with one of the many free scanning apps available.
It works as describe. I have used it for 6 months and it hasn't crashed or interfered with other apps.
Requires odd permission to make phonecalls to start.
Great Pen , App ,Suggestion to allow voice recording through an icon from the notebook instead of starting recording from the App .
I like the product, but it makes the phone reset about twice a week which can get irritating.
Love the new neopdf printable pages. You can get the files from their site. NICE WORK
Picks up only half of the writing strokes. OCR language file installation fails and had to figure out work around using file explorer. Bought it for evernote sync and discovered that note is saved only as an image. OCR text can only be saved one note at a time. In fairness, this is my third try with different epens and none is ready for prime time. Save your money for another 2-3 yrs.
* When making notes whilst recording at the same time, battery drains rapidly. * Editing notes inside the app not smooth, interface being clunky, with stylus input being processed not accurately at all, very difficult to move things around, etc. * Myscript's engine fails to transcribe my rather decent handwriting, esp. when Dutch. And it isn't learning from corrections. * All in all Neo N2 doesn't live up to promises made, with devs not dealing with major issues, only minor ones and sloooow.
I've been using the Moleskine pen and this app for several months now. Just today, I opened the app and it asked me to register a pen as if the app has reset. I registered my pen again and checked my notebook and ALL my data is gone! The notebook is completely empty. This is incredibly disappointing and makes me question the value of the system if everything I've written can be deleted so easily. I'm not sure what do.
I've been using the N2 since it came out, and I can say that while this had lots of promise, the lack of further development has left it crippled. My notes are not consistently lost in the app, never to be found again. The Evernote sync would be helpful, but every time I sync the notes go into a separate folder, so I have lots of folders with many pages of only partial notes. I may have to go back to a LiveScribe 2, as this app ruins the whole N2 experience. And won't run without permissions to make calls!?
The pen and this application work great. I've only used it for a short while, but so far it has been really good.
Won't run unless you give it permission to make phone calls. The English is terrible, and no attention to detail. For example: spaces missing between words, grammar is confusing, sentences like "event view more" without much explanation.
Does what I need when i need it
This app works very well with the truly excellent Neo Smartpen. I have been using the pen almost daily for 9 months, and sync with the application once per week, emailing a pdf of my notes to my business email address for reference and archiving. I particularly like the way I can add notes to a page weeks later and everything is saved together automatically. One of the most useful purchases I have ever made,.
Mines is running smooth as heck. I use it with the Moto X Pure(2015) Android 6.0. been using it for about 4 months now. Only have two issues. 1. The N Toaster program from the website stopped working with my printer even though it did before. 2. Sometimes not all the time when I'm writing with the pen it'll transcribe my stuff a little late into the app.(a delay) but still works flawlessly. Other than that I really want the N Toaster to work for my college classes I can't afford a ton of neo books
I really like it, I have used various Livescribes before and this is a way better product. Only issue for me is the inability to use the proprietary paper to send emails as the symbol in the top corner is supposed to do. It still doesn't work even after yesterday's update which purported to have fixed this issue. It's now attaching a file which can be sent (unlike before) but it's now coming out with nothing in the file at all. Can this be looked at?
It looks wonderful, if only the companion app actually functioned. Using a Nexus 6 and it is encountering challenges.
Just bought the moleskine version of the n2 neosmartpen. After few pages usage, the pen is no more work and the LED become pink. No more stroke is stored again. I have paid US $200 but no support reply. This is really disappointed... Please help to fix this.
drains the battery even when the pen isn't connected. Oneplus 3
App doesn't link up with the pen anymore.

As many of us, I have used N2 in a 2/3 occasions but I plan tu use this intensively. I showed this new gadget to my wife & kids, and they were amazed by the results. It's true that I found at first a lack of interconectivity between what is produced in the app and then transfered to the PC and back, but I'm pretty sure Neolab guys are working on this, because otherwise doesn't make much sense a smart pen itself. For instance, I got an autosaved copy on google drive, but as pdf as a default format. Well, is not the most desirable format for much of us. By the way, fully recomended up to now.
