2016년 새해가 밝아왔습니다.
새해에도 변함없는 하늘의 복과 은혜가 성도여러분에게 넘치기를 기원합니다.
저는 기도 중에 새해 영신교회의 실천목표를 “다음세대를 준비하는 교회”로 정하였습니다.
한국교회는 모두가 우려하듯이 요셉의 7년 풍년의 시기가 지나고 7년 흉년의 시기를 맞고 있습니다.
그러한 징조들이 곳곳에서 나타나고 있습니다.
그 어떤 위기보다 교회학교의 감소와 젊은이들이 줄고 있는 것은 가장 심각한 현상입니다.
가정에도 자녀가 없으면 대가 끊기고 가문이 없어지듯이
교회도 다음세대가 없으면 교회는 자연적으로 쇠퇴해가게 되어 있습니다.
새해에는 어린이 전도와 교회학교 활성화를 위해 더 관심가지고 지원하며 기도하려고 합니다.
새로이 교육부서 전담목사님을 모셨으며, 교사들에 대한 관심과 격려를 강화하고, 교사 기도회 및 교사교육을 강화하려고 합니다. 그리고 사역권사님들이 교회학교 학생들과 기도체인을 연결하여 1-3명의 어린이의 이름을 부르며 기도하기를 시행하고 있습니다.
이러한 시도와 함께 영신교회는 근처 아파트 입주라는 새로운 변화를 맞아 불신영혼의 전도와 새로운 전입성도의 정착이라는 큰 과제를 효과적으로 수행하기 위해 온 성도의 일치와 협력이 절실하게 필요합니다. 이제 끊임없는 기도를 통해 하나님의 마음을 품고 하나님의 뜻을 이루는 교회로 자라가야 합니다. 5110의 비전실현의 일환으로 4월에 캄보디아 깜풍스푸 영신교회 봉헌이 계획되어 있으며, 새해에는 고령화의 추세에 맞추어 어르신 전도를 위한 실버처치도 실시될 것입니다.
대한민국과 한국교회를 둘러싼 상황과 전망은 그리 밝지 않지만, 오늘도 살아계시고 이 역사를 주관하시는 전능하신 하나님을 의지하며 힘찬 새해의 발걸음을 내딛기를 원합니다.
엘리야는 수천의 백성과 바알 아세라 선지자들 앞에서 “나만 홀로 남았다”고 고백했지만, 엘리야의 제단에 불이 임함으로 갈멜산의 부흥을 이끌었으며, 여호와가 우리의 하나님임을 만 천하에 드러내고 하나님께 영광을 돌렸습니다. 여호와가 진정 살아계신 우리의 하나님임을 드러내는 영신교회의 새해가 되기를 소망합니다.
우리를 사랑하시는 여호와 하나님께서는 “보라 내가 새 일을 행하리니 이제 나타낼 것이라”(사43:19)고 말씀하십니다. 이 말씀 붙들고 믿음의 주요 온전케 하시는 예수 그리스도를 바라보고 달려 나가는 소망의 새해가 되기를 기도합니다.

영신교회는 신길동 및 영등포 지역을 복음화하기 위해 장년 출석 5000 명의 교회를 지향하며, 이를 바탕으로하여 100명의 평신도 선교사를 파송하고, 10개의 교회를 개척하는 꿈을 가지고 기도한다.
목회철학
'예수께서 온 갈릴리에 두루 다니사 저희 회당에서 가르치시며 천국 복음을 전파하시며 백성 중에 모든 병과 모든 약한것을 고치시니' (마 4:23)
-영혼구원
'인자의 온 것은 잃어 버린 자를 찾아 구원하려 함이니라'(눅19:10)는 예수님의 말씀과 삶 속에 영혼 구원의 거룩한 뜻이 분명하게 드러나듯이 영혼을 구원하는 공동체로 성장해 가기를 소원한다.
-가르침과 양육
교회는 말씀을 가르쳐 지키게 할 뿐만 아니라 연약한 성도를 성숙한 인격체로 자라게 하는 양육의 공동체가 되어야 한다. 그리하여 기성 교인들이 가르침을 받고 전도자와 양육자의 자리에 설 뿐만 아니라 새신자들이 가르침과 양육을 통해 온전한 그리스도인으로 재생산을 감당할 수 있도록 돕는 공동체를 지향한다.
-은사계발을 통한 섬김의 공동체
우리 각자에게는 하나님께서 주신 아름다운 은사들이 숨겨져 있다. 이 은사를 계발하여 각 지체를 섬기며 대외적인 섬김 활동에도 힘차게 동참하는 공동체가 되고자 한다.
