시대가 빠르게 변하고 있습니다.
빠른 변화에 적응하기 위해서 사람들은 몸부림을 칩니다.

교회도 시대에 적응하기 위해 긴장하고 있지만,
안타깝게도 하나님의 말씀, 성경의 권위가 점차로 희미해져 가고 있는 것 같은 느낌을 지울 수가 없습니다.

세속적인 프로그램들이 성경을 대체하면서 진리를 향한 열정보다는 교회 성장을 향한 열심의 힘을 냅니다.

세상에서 평가받고 인정받는 방식이 교회에 들어오면서,
교회가 하나님의 영광을 밝히 드러내기보다는 인간의 영광을 자극하는 본능이 강조되고 있습니다.
우리 일산교회는 이처럼 혼탁한 시대 속에서 ‘복음의 진리’로만 승부를 걸기를 소망합니다.
하나님의 교회를 교회 되게 만드는 사명으로 시대를 섬기기를 원합니다.
다시 한 번 ‘성경만이 유일한 권위’임을 밝혀 모든 인간의 참된 소망은 오직 말씀의 회복에 있다는 것을 증명하기 원합니다.

인위적인 부흥주의를 좇는 것이 아니라
하나님의 시절이 급히 오기를 소망하는 남은 자 사상으로 무장한 밀알이 되기를 원합니다.
이는 오직 하나님의 말씀이 선명하게 인간의 마음에 드러날 때 가능한 일임을 믿습니다.

우리 일산교회의 역사적인 사명은 바로 여기에 있습니다.
어떻게 해서든지 사람들의 관심 밖으로 꺼져가는 말씀의 능력을 다시 맛보도록 하는 이것이
오늘 우리 일산교회의 사명이자 한국교회 전체가 새롭게 사는 길임을 저는 확신합니다.
