구덕교회는 구원을 받은 거듭난 성도들의 모임으로서 신약의 초대교회가 순전하게 믿고 실천한 원리들을 순종으로 본받고자 합니다.
우리는 성경이 하나님의 말씀으로서 하나님의 완전한 감동(영감)(딤후 3:16)으로 되었으며, 예수님의 십자가에서의 죽음과 죄사함, 그리고 3일 만의 부활(고전 15:20), 오직 믿음에 의한 구원(엡 2:8,9), 구원의 영원성(요 10:28,29), 성령님의 인도(요 14:26), 주님의 몸인 교회(고전 12:12), 예수님의 재림과 교회의 휴거(살전 4:16,17) 등 기독교 정통신앙을 확실히 믿고 있습니다.
또한 우리는 신약성경에서 명하신 대로 어떠한 건물을 교회라 칭하지 않고, 예수 그리스도를 믿고 구원을 받은 자들인 성도들이 함께 모여있는 곳(모임)에 그리스도께서 계시며 이를 교회라 부르심을 믿습니다(고전1:2,마18:20).
우리는 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 주로서 영접한 자들을 물 속에 잠기는 침례를 베풀고(마 28:19,20), 이들 성도들이 만인 제사장으로서 만찬을 중심으로 하는 예배를 매 주일에 드립니다(행 20:7). 즉 우리는 주님께서 명령하신 두 가지 예식을 행하는데 하나는 침례이며(마28:19,20), 다른 하나는 그의 몸과 피를 상징하는 주의 만찬입니다(눅 22:14-20, 고전 11:25).
그리고 각 지역 교회의 주님 앞에서의 독립성을 믿으며(계 1:13), 어떠한 교파나 교단 등에도 속하지 않음으로서 그에 따른 이름을 사용하지 않고(고전1:12-13,3:4), 일인 목회가 아닌 여러 명의 장로(감독)들에 의한 교회 운영을 받아들입니다(행 20:17-28).
성경에 대한 우리들의 이해
우리는 완벽하지는 못하지만 우리가 믿음으로 이해하는 대로 하나님의 말씀의 원리와 주님께 순종과 충성하기를 추구합니다.
구덕교회는 어느 교단이나 교파에도 속해 있지 않은 독립교회입니다. 우리는 어떠한 교회의 조직 또는 계급 제도의 권위나 지배 아래 있지 않습니다. 그러므로 우리는 어떤 교단이나 그에 관한 어떤 이름도 사용하지 안으며 같은 하나님을 똑같이 믿어 하나님의 자녀 된 자들을 하나 되게 하지 않고, 서로를 나누는 교파의 모든 이름들이 성경적이지 않다고 믿습니다.
그러므로 우리는 이러한 어떠한 교파의 이름이라도 사용하지도 않고 모든 믿는 신자들이 서로 부르기 위하여 성경에서 사용하고 있는 "성도" "형제나 자매" "하나님의 자녀"라는 용어를 사용하기를 원합니다.
교회의 머리는 교회의 지도자나 어떤 조직이 아니라 그리스도이시며, 그리스도께서 그 교회의 중심이 되시고 주인으로서 주관하심을 믿습니다.(마 18:20,계1:16-20).
하나님의 교회는 성경에서 말씀하시는 자격(딤전3:1-13,딛1:5-9)있는 지도자들(장로, 목사, 감독들을 성경에서는 다 같은 사람으로 말하고 있습니다)에 의해 돌봄과 섬김을 받아야 된다고 믿습니다
그리스도 안에서 거룩함을 입은 모든 성도들(고전1:2)은 다 제사장들입니다(벧전2:5-9). 성경에는 성직자와 평신도의 구분이 없을 뿐 아니라 그러한 용어자체도 없음을 알고 있고, 어떤 특정한 교육을 이수 받거나 선택된 소수의 사람들만이 예배나 기도 등의 여러 종류의 성례 등을 집행할 수 있고 그 외의 사람들은 그러한 일들을 할 수 없다는 가르침이 없음을 알고 있습니다.

Our understanding of the Bible
