사랑하는 교우 여러분!

‘기쁘다 구주 오셨네’라는 글자에 환한 빛이 새겨지는 걸 보면서 한 해가 저물어 가고 새로운 해가 다가오고 있음을 느낍니다. 동시에 우리 교회 옆에 어느새 높이 솟은 아이파크 아파트를 보며 시간이 빠름을
생각합니다.

작년만큼 다사다난이라는 말에 많은 공감을 한 해도 드물 것입니다. 특히 나라의 어려운 일은 우리에게 안타까움을 더했고, 희망이라는 단어가 무색하게 생각될 정도였습니다. 이럴 때일수록 세상의 빛인 교회가 그 역할을 잘 감당해야 함을 절실하게 느낍니다. 이것은 하나님을 믿는 우리 그리스도인들이 더욱 더 정직하고 올바르게 살아가야 한다는 것을 뜻합니다.

그런데 이 길은 결코 쉬운 길이 아닙니다. 예수님은 많은 사람이 찾는 넓은 문이 아닌 생명으로 인도하는 좁은 문으로 걸어가라고 말씀하십니다. 좁은 문은 찾는 사람이 적습니다. 찾는 사람이 적을지라도 그 좁은 문을 걸어가는 것이 우리의 몫입니다. 때때로 포기하고 싶고 편한 길로 가고 싶은 유혹이 찾아오더라도 끝까지 그 좁은 길로 걸어갈 수 있는 우리가 될 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다. 저 역시 그 좁은 길을 함께 걸어가며 여러분에게 힘이 되겠습니다.

여러분, 새해가 밝았습니다. 저는 우리를 선하게 인도하시는 하나님의 손길과 인도하심이 올 한해에도 여러분의 각 가정에 임하기를 늘 기도하겠습니다.
