King James Bible

Commonly known as the Authorized Version (AV) or King James Bible (KJB), is an English translation of the Sacred Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and finished in 1611.

Its strong and elevated style made it a literary classic and the highest source of authority for all the protestans churches.

In 1604, King James VI ordered a new English version in response to the problems of the preceding translations detected by the Puritans. The translation was done by 47 scholars, all members of the Church of England.

The new version would comply with the practices and the episcopal structure of the Church of England. The New Testament was translated from Greek and the Old Testament was translated from Hebrew and Aramaic text. The Apocrypha was translated from the Greek and Latin.

This version of the Bible became the most widely printed book in history. Its powerful and awesome style has astonished millions of believers over the centuries and around the world. Definitely it's the most used English translation in Anglican and Protestant churches.
