13화. 千裏走單騎 '다섯 관문 돌파'
조조가 안량에 필적한다고 생각한 것은 관우. 관우를 부추기기 위해 여포가 타던 적토마를 관우에게 주어 관우는 이를 쾌히 승낙했다.
조조의 앞에서 도발한 안량에게 관우는 힘차게 치고 들어가 단 칼에 안량을 베어 버렸다. 안량을 잃은 원소군은 혼란하게 사방으로 도망을 치고 만다.
이후에도 조조는 관우를 중용하고 관우는 기대에 부응 하였다. 관우가 조조 밑에 있다는 사실을 알게 된 원소는 격노하여 유비를 질타했다.
14화. 古城會 '고성의 재회'
행방을 감췄던 장비는 고성현에 있었다. 조조의 친척, 하후 가의 시집가는 가마가 근처를 통과한다는 보고를 들은 장비가 그 일행을 습격하기로 했다.
신부를 맞이하러 나와 있던 신랑 일행에게 갑자기 장비가 습격한다. 뿔뿔이 흩어진 신랑 일행을 아랑곳하지 않고 장비가 신부 가마로 접근한다. 안을 들여다보니 하후련이었다. 장비는 하후련을 품에 앉고 그 자리를 떠났다.
15화. 官渡之戰(上)'관도의 전투(상)'
원소는 유비의 이탈에 불만을 품고 토벌하려 했지만, 조조를 토벌하는 것이 먼저라고 판단하고 참모의 충고도 듣지 않고 대군을 출전 시키기로 했다.
양군 모두 대군을 이끌고 전장에서 대치했다. 조조의 불안은 계속되어 전란에 의해 식량도 부족했다. 단기 결전을 바라던 조조는 과감하게 공격하지만, 원소의 교묘한 전술에 의해 서전은 원소가 승리하고 조조는 관도 요새까지 퇴각한다.
16화. 官渡之戰(下)' 관도의 전투(하)'
조조는 원소의 병참 기지를 노렸다. 병참 기지가 모조리 타고 있는 것을 알아차린 원소는 일부 군사를 병참기지 구원으로, 또 참모 곽도의 진언에 따라 장합과 고람이 이끄는 일부 군사를 허술한 관도 요새로 파견했다.
그러나 병참 기지를 습격한 조조군은 소수이고 본대는 관도에 있었다.
