AutoRotate Switch for Android
When you turn auto-rotate off, it automatically flips the orientation to landscape and locks it there. I want to keep it locked in portrait mode!!
For those who don't have more updated controls and all the quick settings like screen rotation, this app's widget is a one press option that I'm really glad installed.
Brilliant for stick android, moto g or any other phone/ tablet that doesn't have an easily accessible auto rotate button. Sits with your other apps and just tap it to toggle auto rotate. Thanks!!
It's really handy to have it as a search button shortcut, it really saves space on my home screen, but when it has been used it is displayed among the Recent Apps. Annoying. Uninstalled since it abandoned.
Excellent app. Could you have a function to rename it. At the moment 'autorotate' gets cut off as a label under the icon.
I am sooooooooo thankful for this because the day that I got my tablet the screen rotation lock switch broke. This has fixed it totally and completely!!!!
Auto rotate can be so annoying, but sometimes I need it. This app is perfect
Works great and is easy. Just long-press search button and it toggles auto-rotate function transparently (short-press still gives you the current applications expected functionality). If you are laying on your side and the screen rotates to landscape unwantedly, just long-press search and it flips back to portrait. Also, each time you long-press search button you get a small on screen message for 2 seconds saying whether auto-rotate is being toggled "on" or "off", so you always know where you are at. Thanks.....
Nexus 7 2013. I had big problems with auto rotate in any direction disabled by badly written apps, (and professional ones too). I have to reboot to restore it. Nexus 7 has auto rotate button anyway but this app seems to repair the bug bad apps leave behind. Well nice one!
The Jellybean update to the Sprint Galaxy S2 puts the Voice Command in the long hold of the search key. So i cannot quickly turn on/off autorotate anymore. I tried an uninstall and reinstall but did not work. Needs an update so can work again! It was so useful before!
Doesn't do anything! Is it just a prop or display to advertise for the real app? Seriously! I don't want to give it a bad rating if its a 4.5 but its not working with my phone.I have an ALCATEL onetouch. I know, I know. It's severely an off brand but at such a good rating I figured it would work for this thing. No luck yet but I'm still tinkering. PLEASE someone help? I also have another tilt screen app. Would they counteract each other? The other one does it's own functions but not what I need.
I've been using this for over a year a half and absolutely loved it. Recently my S2 was updated from ICS to Jelly Bean. Whenever I long press the search, it brings up a voice search. Such a shame.
@Mortimir - You are the useless, misrepresenting trash! Description clearly states that it cannot lock in landscape mode. Great app!
I hate voice command and, sometimes autorotate, this app help me with both problems using very low space usage
Had to wipe my phone and this was one of the very first apps I reinstalled. Does one thing. Does what it does so VERY well.
The long press shortcut is awsome. U dun wan to be fumbling ard looking for ur app or widget when u're in the middle of another app
... Which makes it useless if you want to stay in landscape. Points for effort.
Install+test. Set Evo4G down&tilted. Works & way more pleased than expected. Suddnly remember few times I got upset it rotated but 2 much effort 2 fix
Droid Razr Maxx. Worked great until jellybean update. Long press search button no longer works--brings up search instead. I miss it!
No search button on my tab. The app only locks into landscape mode, which has very limited usefulness.
Does exactly what it says and it is managed well, doesn't waste memory and/or battery. I use it to allow landscape mode when using the GPS, otherwise, I want it off as I always use my phone in portrait mode. Excellent app, does it's job perfectly!!! BTW I have added icon to SwipePad and it is just too easy to toggle without swiping to find the icon in the menu.
toggle wifi, then app kills itself so it wastes no ram. please donate, if you can.
Wonderful app, it solves me the trouble digging into my HTC Incredible S verbose Settings menu to set my screen on portrait. Useful while lying down.
When you turn auto-rotate off, it automatically flips the orientation to landscape and locks it there. I want to keep it locked in portrait mode!!
Specifics: Nexus 7 2B16, unrooted, Marshmallow. Lollipop was OK, but now, rogue apps disable Auto for all apps.
Great simple app that does the job but I started using power toggles which has this ability too and so much more.
Jelly Bean on a Nexus 7 only allows portrait mode for the home screens. Alas, this widget does not overcome this new limitation. Not originally intended to, I guess, but still not of use to N7 users like me.
It's been perfect for the job and takes no memory or battery.
Long-press search key doesn't work. Shortcut on home=nonsense, space on home is limited! Put in notification or allow trigger by gesture, uninstalled
EXACTLY what I was looking for!! I do wish you could toggle it to lock into either mode, but still worth 5 stars because of it's sheer simplicity and functionality. GREAT app!
Whenever I turn off auto, it will back to landscape mode. Cannot lock at portrait
Simple app (hold search button to toggle) that takes up little memory (app download is 16KB, on my phone it says 28KB). Functions well too, without any bloat. Prevents rotation of the screen while browsing phone lying down. Great app!
I don't see any reason to rate this anything lower than five stars. Always works every time I press my search key. "It just works" - Steve Jobs lol.
Can't remember how I survived without it! -rooted OCed Defy
Does nothing at all, really disappointed cos it looked quite good
Very nice! I like the way it can be run while another app is running by simply long-pressing the Search key.
I don't use the homepage shortcut at all. Since I got a search button it just replaces voice search which i never use anyway.. Since you have to hold it down you don't accidentally bump it.. And I still get to keep my Google search shortcut from a regular press. Also the app is only 16k !! I think this is the smallest app I have on the entire phone..
I had been looking for a good auto rotate switch for a while. This is perfect, super simple, works flawlessly. Thanks!
great, especially if you can command it with a shortcut key/hotkey DROID Pro
