About sunZapp

Have you ever gotten sunburned on a cloudy day? Wondered if you even needed a hat to go outside? sunZapp gives you all the information you need to be sun safe. It makes sun protection simple for you and your family and helps to protect you from the harmful rays of the sun. The app uses your skin type, location, environmental conditions, clothing, and sunscreen and use of shade and combines it with NOAA’s hour-by-hour UV Index forecast to provide real-time sun protection advice. The app reminds you to apply and reapply your sunscreen, alerts you when UV levels and sunburn risks are high and gives you simple actions you can take to be sun safe. It is comprehensive, scientifically sound and extensively tested.

Reducing over-exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UV) from the sun is one of the best ways to prevent skin cancer. sunZapp can help you practice effective sun protection by giving advice on when to apply your sunscreen, stay in the shade, and wear protective clothing and hats.

sunZapp features include: personalized sun protection recommendations, GPS location and time, sunscreen reapplication reminders, alerts, GPS location and time, and UV Index reports.

Awful.

Report options are very limited leaving many people out. Do you know what a lot of peoples skin does in the sun without protection? It gets sunburned. Pretty sad that some develops an app about sun safety and doesn't know this.

After answering the questionnaire, I clicked for advice. All I got was an ad for Westin. I saw no way to close the as without going back, so I did three times. Finally instead of clicking the box for advice, I clicked the X, and Eureka, the advice page spread. Easier to look at a good weather app.

I can't stop the app except with a force quit, and then I lose the profile I entered.

Great idea but it freezes and won't shut off. Needs bug fix I guess. I am uninstalling.

I saw it in popular science loved the concept and downloaded it immediately

Haven't gotten to use it yet but I love the idea of having it tell you when you're getting a sunburn, when you need to seek shade/apply more sunscreen. Great for pale people who burn fast

Seems like and awesome app, haven't used it yet, but the idea is cool

The concept of this is great, however it only allowed me to enter one type of profile and then ran with it. It won't let me go back and make any changes to it or set up different type of profile. I'm sure with some tweaks it will be a great resource even just as a reminder to put on some bloody sunblock. :-)

Really helps you know if your getting a sunburn or not

I thought this was really going to trump the epa UV app but fails. Incorrect UV indexes being one of them. The UV index is 8 here today and this app shows an UV index of 3 which is very misleading.

I ran into the same problem of no way to exit the app, or save my config (not even one with a "function not available without upgrade message). Since I was looking at the app after local sundown the app should have known it wasn't needed then.
