Gizmo for Android
One of the things that made me decide to purchase the software. Very convenient as a remote. The not so good parts: no ability to rate songs from within the app (must be a glitch, doesn't save if you click on the stars) ; interface is frankly a bit wonky and cheapish feeling, which is okay, but for example, when searching you can't go back one step without going back to the beginning of search. Can't see which tracks the program found without actually pressing play. Small things like that.
Needs a lot of features to make it a true companion. Very limited and does not show any signs of future evolution. Too bad.
I'd say the only thing missing is the ability to skip ahead 30 seconds / back 10 sec when playing video...
I use Jriver to play music and set the DSP settings for my media server, and Kodi to play videos. The two, combined with this app and Yatse, give me a nearly perfect solution.
Omg! They answered me 20min after my e-mail! In media center: Tools > Options > media network, turn on authentication and define user and password, that's all.
For the summer I can sit in the garden with some extra speakers and control everything from the garden. It works well.
The most stupid app
Effortlessly streams and remotely control library
Love the ability to use the phone volume buttons to adjust jriver volume.
very light, great usability, easy to use
Easy to use, simple and powerful
The app is easy to install and friendly to navigate. The only two missing things for me are: 1) ability to 'add a song to playlist' 2) ability to 'rate a song' (with a 1-5 star rating). Great app anyways!
Recent update fixed the Lollipop problems, thanks. Excellent application.
Found this app works very well with my Chromecast. Normally Chromecast will only accept H264. AAC- MP4 HD video's. I normally used LocalCast until this app came along.. Now with the GIZMO connection, I can stream other video formats which were rejected by the Chromecast. Only negative is that it takes a little time before the video starts, but after that it works very well streaming the videos from my PC to my Television via a WiFi connection. Of course with Chromecast some may not realise you need at least a N600 Wireless Modem for the Chromecast to work.
Nice companion to the greatest media player out there. 2 small improvements - make the name clearer, maybe even 'Jriver remote' and update the icon - kinda spoils the look of the android L menu...
Just keeps trying to connect. My other PC is on line but tried many times no success.
The cache ahead of up to 10 songs is a feature that even jremote on my ipad is missing. The importance of this becomes self evident when travelling in spotty areas.
Remote access to Jriver media centre very convenient app
It's free and offers a lot, you can't ask for more. One little glitch that I like to solved is: remembering last position while scrolling through playlists.
need cashing of covers...
TV guide is missing, but other than that works well. The remote control is neat
With this app i only need to save the music that i usually listen to on my phone. As i can easily just stream my 20k songs to my phone when im home or at work
Chromecast Update works great
Soo love it!!
Does not work with Chrome Cast Audio
Shows the casting icon then failed. Wtf.
Could be better if interface was improved. I use this to play music throughout my home with my pc connected in my media room. It's difficult to scan through albums to find what you want. How about a list view? I don't care about album covers.
Used this for years. It works but navigation and function is limited and archaic for an app. Cannot navigate library from search results! Must play or add any search results. Display of track, album, and composer info is truncated which is useless for classical and annoying for other genres. Can't edit or create play lists. Can't view tag info. With Android 4 it often will not auto-connect requiring me to manually reconnect to the server. Auto connects on Android 3.

If you use Jriver mediacenter, this is the app for you. It allows you to play your music from your pc to your phone, and vice versa. This is very handy and cool to be able to do. I would really like it if the app had an increased ability to manage your library. I often add new music to my jriver library and listen to it on the go using the app, but I cannot rate songs or delete any of the songs (from my source htcp) while on the go. These would make a huge difference for me. It isn't all that fun discovering new music if you can't manage it.

Since it has not been updated in a long time... It is now useless!
Amazing for playing / hearing music / movies via smartphone. Theature mode is also appealing. Interface needs improvements (esp. Colors) But overall Excellent work.
Doesn't stream videos from library to the device anymore for some reason... Videos are stuck on "preparing"
I use this app a lot and it works very well and is quite reliable for audio at least (fails to play video on Xperia Z, Z1, Z2 & Z3). The search function lacks the ability to drill down through the results for an artist. A sleep function would be good. If it had the ability to sync playlists for off-line playback it would be excellent.
Chrome Cast Audio support needed!
Took 3 minutes to setup. Worked without issue.
Works great. If it was visible in the notification bar & lock screen it would be perfect
Get "eos" it's better

Gizmo could be helpful if you are using JRiver and don't have the computer right in front of you. It will control the software from a phone or tablet. However, it lacks key usability features for music. First, there's no way to reorder, edit, or delete the current play queue, other than adding another album. (Well, you can press "Play" on another track, which will replace the entire queue.) This is a pretty basic feature, and it's surprising to find it missing. The Search feature is really fast, but there's no way to view the tracks on an album and add *some* of them to the playe queue. Update in June 2016: Still no way to reorder play queue or add individual tracks from an album. It's puzzling how such basic features are missing -- I guess this is really meant just for controlling movies.
