HiddenSSID Enabler for Android
Android "failed to connect" to my hidden wifi - not sure what this app did but I entered my SSID and it works.
INSTRUCTIONS to make this app work. ----- (1) Using PC, turn on (or 'Broadcast') your Wireless Network Name (SSID) using the router settings page and save the setting. Leave the page open because you will need it again. (2) Using Android device, connect to your WiFi network. (3) NOW, using Android device, open the 'HiddenSSID Enabler' app and type in your network SSID then press the 'Enable hidden SSID' button. NOTE: There is no feedback from the app notifying that your SSID has been accepted. (4) Using Android device, turn off it's WiFi connection. (5) Using PC, hide your WiFi network's SSID by turning it off using the router settings page and save the setting. (6) On your Android device, reconnect it's WiFi. - You are finished. The program is only 20kb after installation and works very well. Follow these instructions and your Android device will be connected to your router's hidden SSID within 3 minutes after downloading this app.
Manually enter hidden ssid in WiFi settings & save, open app, enter ssid name, hit enable. Wait a few seconds. UI sucks but it does work. Sanyo Zio
This little app did a great job. Set your hidden wifi up in Wi-Fi(case sensitive). Then run the app, typing your connection in exatly the same. It will just blink...unless you get it wrong. You should now see your connection available. Thanks for the nice app!!!! Cyanogenmod build for Nook HD+
This took 3 minutes to download for some reason even though I have a great internet connection, plenty of storage and only AccuWeather running so don't be impatient. The program is only 20K after installation.
1. Make sure your Wireless Network Name (SSID) is enabled on your router via the router settings page; 2. Connect to your network using your mobile; 3. Open 'HiddenSSID Enabler' and type in your network SSID, then press the "Enable hidden SSID" button. NOTE: There is no feedback from the app saying your SSID has been excepted, you will get an error message if it has not been excepted?; 4. Turn off the WiFi on your mobile; 5. Hide the router network SSID by turning it off via the router settings page and save the setting; 6. On your mobile turn the WiFi back on, your mobile should now connect to your WiFI - happy days! INFO: This litle app fixes the Android wireless network name (SSID) WiFi bug. When you hide your network SSID on your router you will get a message on your android device, your mobile phone for example, saying your WiFi is not in range. In my case I knew it was in range because previously it had been working fine. Great app, just needs more feedback and a help file. UPDATE: I installed this on my Nexus 7 (Android 4.4.3 KitKat) as the bug has still not been fixed! I didn't have to go though all the above steps. just turned the WiFi on and off and entered the SSID.
Start with network visible, then add it to phone, THEN use this app to mark network as hidden. Hide network again and stays connected. Crummy UI.
I know it's easy for a determined person to get the name of a hidden SSID. But for the common man (and nosy neighbors and kids with smartphones) , I like to keep my network off the radar. This works great to allow me to keep doing that. I take off a star because sometimes my network gets completely dropped off my two phones and tablet for no reason and I have to reset this app and all the information that needs to go into it. Wish Android would allow hidden networks natively.
Didnt work on my xperia x10. In all honesty shouldn't android be able to support hidden networks if they want to compete with iphone os? :@
It worked!Thank you so much! Htc desire. BTW u have to wait a bit to make it work ;)
Works fine; LG P500 & WPA2. I did find that intially, SSID must be visible when you enable. Then hide SSID & switch Off WIFI, then On and all works!
App works great! Enter all credentials for the wireless network in the droids settings before launching "hiddenssid enabler" and entering your ssid.
For me with a N1 running Froyo, it initially seemed like it did nothing, but it did resolve to hidden SSID at home and the office. Thanks!
It fixed my problem on Moto Droid 2.1u1. Now lets me connect to WiFi network not broadcasting SSID for (casual) security. Thanks!
This app gave message that it was connected but no internet available and it was still shown out of range in system.
One click to make my hidden wifi AP shown in list. In addition, it's a very clean app, don't try to collect my smartphone information or selling ads. Highly recommended!
This App so helpful to me .. Im Crying ! I Find some info. in google on how to fix the DISABLE SSID .. it almost 30 Minutes to find most helpful ideas on the google but one of it no one best answer .. Im Just tired and i almost gave up, then i use playstore and search HIDDEN SSID and This App first Searched result i was found .. Thank You to this owner of the App .. Now my wifi is working again
No user support on how to work the app. If I didn't have some background into it, I would have no idea how to use it.
I love howsimple it was. Just type the ssid that you just hid... THANKS !! Samsung tab 3 8.0.

Works perfectly! Those of you that can't get it to work...maybe you need to enable your wireless?
works well...
Worked fine, I followed info from other users and started with SSID visible, opened app and enabled my network. Then I switch off WiFi, stopped the SSID broadcast, switched Wifi back on and it connected instantly.
Basic but it does what it says v. well & means I can continue to keep my ssid hidden. Update... No longer needed as froyo upgrade sees my SSID unaided
Thanks for this app! It works great on my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S LT18a with Android 4.0 installed.
Add your access point information then run this program and put in the name. It will connect every time.
Lifesaver for being able to connect to my hidden wiifi at home. In use on G1 since the beginning with no problems.
Does exactly what its supposed to do on all my android devices (3 devices from 2 brands). Better yet after installing it and enabling my devices to connect to my hidden SSID net they still connect alter I uninstalled it. Good job and thanks! Ed S.
It just works like a charm, enabled my phone to find and connect to my hidden SSID over 802.11g WiFi network with WP2-PSK encryption.
Works on HTC Droid Incredible. Just need to visit WiFi settings or disable/enable WiFi after unhiding SSID.
"not found SSID 'mySSID'" but I can add it manually with def wifi settings. Thot wud force it 2 check for spec SSID & use my PW. Vibrant 2.1
Would be nice if it closed after hitting the Enable button or at least gave the user feedback.
Doesn't appear to work for wpa2, but everything else looks good. Needs wpa2 support ASAP though
This app does exactly what is advertised and is free...something that should be in Android stock. Five stars! For the record, I'm using a Droid2.
Although the program does not show whether it is working, you just need to wait for a while, your wifi connector will show up, it means you are connected. No need to broadcast and unbroadcast on your router, just set up the wifi profile manually and use this program to enable the hidden ssid. I've tried another newer program, it didn't work for me.
Worked for me. After entering the SSID and hitting the button, seems to do nothing. Then killed the task and BANG, the Droid connected.
Widget will not work(it seems to do nothing)unless your wireless router is set to use WEP security! Add Wi-Fi network to phone, then install widget.
It worked for me. 1st you need to connect the wifi while ssid is in enabled mode then disable the ssid broadcast and connect.
Doesn't seen to work on nexus. Enable button doesn't do anything and the phone still cannot connect to hidden ssid that worked 2seconds earlier
