iControlAV5 for Android
This app does not connect to my VSX1124 on any of my 5 Android devices. The phone can connect to the built in page in the receiver so there is no connection problem. Same app works fine on my iPad so it is not my network. Support was no help and told me to deal with it. No more Pioneer or Onkyo products for me. I forgot about this issue and recently purchased a pioneer elite receiver, the app worked for few days but now just gives error B27102.
I am extremely disappointed in how the Pioneer Corporation isn't supporting this app. When it works, it's great. But it only works maybe 10% of the time. I will be looking into a new company who supports their product. Possibly going to Marantz or Anthem. I've been a proud owner of Pioneer products for over 15 years. Thanks for making this decision easier for me.
Works some times, but unimpressed that Pioneer doesn't do anything about updating it, even after most comments are negative. I too have to reset my VSX1021 at least once a week to enable app to work. Another change from previous version is, when I initiate the app on Android, it switches the amp on which is not great. If I am using the amp with HMS for instance and activated the app, HMS stops working.
For those experiencing B57113 error this is how i fixed it because it seems sure as hell pioneer won't. Had to power down amp completely, not just standby. Unplugged it for ten seconds pressing on button to completely drain power. Then turned it back on. All presets are kept but the connection is completely reset. Then control app worked again. Time will tell how long for.
I am really surprised that how others have underrated this app. This app is fabulous. It works without any flaws. May be handset or WiFi router may have issues where other people had problems. its definitely working app atleast for me. Good job folks. Keep it up. I am using this app from last one month without any issues. Thanks a lot.
I love the Pioneer VSX 1123 receiver I bought a few years ago, but oddly enough the remote has failed and only partially controls the receiver. I've tried contacting Pioneer for the possibility of a replacement, but like others here, I found that Pioneer's after-purchase support doesn't exist. This 'app is a life-saver, giving me access to advanced user features on my Pioneer equipment that is usually only available with the packaged remote control. The interface is easy to use on my phone; I have no connectivity issues and I would argue that this 'app is easier than the original remote itself. My only gripe is that I don't think there is a way to save settings on the 'app. I have to re-configure some settings every time I power up the system. Other than that, I truly enjoy this product and I hope I do not encounter the issues that others have after updates...
Horrible app. Basically, for me to get the app to work, I have to unplug the Pioneer receiver. Plug it back in. Run the start-up navi to reconnect Wi-Fi, and then it works. This is every time I want to use it. What a pain in the A$$.
Have installed multiple times, but never works. Never sees my receiver even manually entering the ip and still doesn't see it. I guess with it called icontroll that should be a clue that it is specifically for "I" devices as it works great on my ipad. Go figure, but I don't want to use that thing. Crappy
This is a very nice app to control my vsx1121 until last month when it stopped working. Most of the features still work but the most important features HMG has stopped working in the App. HMG still starts on AVR through the app but after that app does not let you get to any of the below menus. It used to just a few weeks ago. Not sure what happened. Hopefully there is a fix and I can give this 5 star.
It is a great & very useful app when it works. Unfortunately, the sC95 receiver has a flaw & the app can no longer connect. Unplugging/plugging the SC95 will get it to temporarily work again but since that is not practical, I have to raye the app accordingly.
One of the worst apps I have ever used. It will not stay connected to my pioneer amplifier. I have to keep resetting my amp just to connect with the app. Just well not stay connected!!!
This used to work well for me but since the last update it continually fails to find the receiver on the network unless I remove the power from the AV (SC-LX89) and let it restart. Its on a network cable connection and my router can see it fine. I had hoped that as they released an update in Feb that simply had a 'Bug Fix' that they were maintaining it, but it seems not, and all they did was break it for me. Its very disappointing as I need to get my glasses out to use the real remote the buttons are so tiny ! When it works, I love, its just to rare though.
This app worked great with my 2012 VSX-60. Now I'm using it with an SC-91. It updates itself to the new receiver and works just as well if not better than it did with the '60. I've not had the error problems mentioned by other's... So far! I'll update this review later if anything changes but as a free app supplied by Pioneer, 5 stars does not seem like enough, i'd give it 8 if I could!
Great app when it works. Stupid app when it doesn't . Tried updating receiver and didn't work. I blame the stupid Pioneer people for not updating the app as need. Lazy mfs!
B57113 error! It was working perfectly for 1 month, but start to give an error! It could not connect to my receiver lx101 anymore. When are you going to fix this? 1 year later?! Update: it seems pioneer does not caare about the consumers!! This is not fixed after several months!
Come on Pioneer after three years of working now I get a B27109 error. If you are going to offer a feature at least keep it updated to current systems, what a joke!
its really cool how older model receivers that want you to use an older contol app with less features will let you use this newer version. i didnt expect it to work that way and am impressed. only con is that speaker settings like size and distance cant be changed with the app which sucks since you have to stop listening and go through the receivers home screen menu to make the changes = not ideal for noticing your changes.
Worst App! Totally unstable. Completely unsupported by Pioneer. A poor direct reflection on the Pioneer brand. Complete disgrace after what I paid for a Pioneer Elite.
Initially worked fine but now giving error 27102. Need to reset network setting to work again. At same time other app works fine for at least volume and power on off. My av universal remote app works fine. More than 50% functions works. Developer please do something needful. Help needed as it's dedicated app.
It requires much upgrading, too many screens to switch to control, can't save setting correctly, features does not make much difference, slow, equlizer is not smooth, toy interface. Weak Bluetooth Its "good hardware" but not remote software.
Do IP manually on reciever and will always keep it. No problem after that. NEED EQUALIZER SETTING SAVED Permanently. NEED SIMPLE APP with no motion graphic. And NEED option to tune and save tuner CHANNELS ON APP also. NEED RESPONSIVE QUICK Vol Up/Down. Thanks.
Same as everyone else, have to unplug and plug my receiver every week or so to keep the app connected. Pretty inexcusable this is so broad and wide reaching with nothing being done about it.
There are some connection issues with this app but for the most part, it's worth keeping. I think the best use of the app is in conjunction with the Bluetooth adapter. Although the media resources need to be nearby, out takes out other issues such as the app locking up when your mobile device sleeps or is taken outside of the range of the receiver. It works well with Pandora which is my main source. Mainly because the media server option rarely works. The previous version of the Control App works better for my VSX-823 however both apps seem to suffer from the same issues when it comes to remaining connected to the receiver. All in all, it's better than nothing which is the only alternative for the older AV receives. Please Pioneer Inc, don't leave the older AV receiver owners out in the cold the next time you upgrade the Control App. I love my receiver and don't want to relegate from my home to my dusty, hot/cold workshop just yet.
After this app and my vsx-1020-k worked flawlessly for months, it randomly stopped working. I could not figure this out and I was close to just go buy a new receiver with built in wifi instead of just a Lan line. I spent a few hours on Google and found the solution. 1- turn on receiver and make sure Ethernet cable is plugged in to the back and connected to your router 2- unplug your router/modem 3- turn off power on receiver 4- exit the app 5-plug power to your modem/router and wait 3mins 6- turn on receiver and wait 1 mins 7- open app Make sure the receiver is connected to your network but otherwise should work again!
Works fine for me. The only thing that doesn't work is de pause button when using the media server.
Please put this back to normal like it was yesterday the status viewer is no longer there also the equalizer settings have vanished I now have a grey bar where the bottom functions were if u press the options button it gets stuck and I have to reset or force close and the home button no longer works
I haven't used this app since I last charged my phone yet it has drained 11% of my Google Pixel battery in 6hrs. It has consumed more battery than anything else on my phone that I have actually used such as Chrome.
This has always worked for me. I use it via WiFi. Sometimes there are issues with the app if my phone loses connection (battery saver) and I usually have to restart it after that, but mostly it just works.
It's shame for Pioneer. The iOs app is way better and simpler than this on android.
As other said - it works but the potential is way bigger and it unnecessarily too graphicly complex with low functionality
this app sucks it dont work half the time is there a way to bypass it if so i like to know im tired of dealing with it
La aplicación cuando funciona va bien, pero cada vez q entras da fallo de búsqueda, a la primera va muy pocas veces y cuando intentas poner el énfasis q da más graves es de vergüenza, va 1 de 6 intentos, toda la red de mi casa es cableada Cat 6 y el WiFi es un netgear Ac de última generación, poneros las pilas o vuelvo a mi querido Yamaha, (que encima da un sonido más puro y limpio). BASURA! NO TENEIS NI PTDA IDEA, FUNCIONA 1 DE CADA 10, menudos inútiles tenéis programando. Sigue siendo una basura.

It works but the interface has bad animations and should use material design with normal menus.
Garbage. Doesn't work at all with my VSX 510. Sadly the issue seems to be with newer software on phones.

Only getting basic functions, no speaker optimization just VOL/INPUT/SOUND SETTINGS! I was hoping for all the control as my VSX528 is listed as compatible

After forever getting the B27102 error, the app finally connects to the receiver. Now that it does, I'm able to see what it's functions are. It gives you fairly deep control of the receiver from your phone, but after everything is set up (which I had to do without this app), I don't use it much other than volume control. The interface is wonky, favoring flashy animations over ease of use, but it's still fairly usable. Rating 3 because it was months and months of it not connecting at all, forcing me to bypass what I'm assuming is the app's most useful stage - initial setup.
