About Baika-ryu Eisanka Keyboard
This is a keyboard app released by the Sōtō-shū Baika-ryū to assist the practice of eisanka music. It operates on smartphones and Android tablets.
The initial build of this app was released as an evaluation version by the Kanagawa Prefecture Second District Administrative Office.
•Baika-ryū eisanka is a genre of hymnal music that uses hand bells and singing to revere the Buddha, the Two Patriarchs of Sōtō Zen (Dōgen-zenji and Keizan-zenji), and one’s ancestors. This music, written in the Japanese pentatonic scale, was born in the natural landscape and traditional ways of life of Japan. This gentle and calming music is easy to sing and will put your heart at peace while filling you with new inspiration.
•With your smartphone or Android tablet, you can conveniently practice anytime and anywhere.
•The three-octave keyboard features eisanka musical notation, and can switch between the major (yōsen) and minor (insen) scales.
•Functions include hand bells, metronome, transposition, and up/down key change.
•The app includes basic samisen accompaniment, and features baika sheet music with automatic play, and “one-touch” performance.
