OLYMPUS Image Track for Android
The camera (TG-Tracker) is a nice little camera, I love the fact that it has a whole bunch of hardware in it and that it can connect to my phone for downloading and editing. I love that I can view temperature, elevation/depth, speed, direction, ect right from my phone and can even do some simple video editing. There are a list of problems though that really hurts the rating. The camera and the phone won't connect long enough to download the videos and logs. Limited editing support; I really hate that I can only edit the logs into the videos from the phone and that I have to have everything or nothing. You've taken a huge step in an all in one gadget, but it wasn't well executed. I really hope for the ability to load specific data elements, and the connectivity gets better. Ultimately I'd like to be able to edit the videos completely from my laptop. One step at a time though...
Basically the oi.Track software is required to use the tracking data. It does the job, sometimes, partially. It tries to make it as hard as possible. The worst concept and user interface of any android software I have ever seen. It should be easy to fix the worst problems, so I have hope for one of the next versions. With updated camera firmware and useful tracking software the TG-Tracker would be a really nice camera for my applications. The way it is now I can't recommend it.
This won't connect at all to my phone. This app gets updated and not once has it connected. I love my camera though. I really wanted to use my phone with it. The camera is the TG-870 and the mobile is the Moto G 3rd generation
as a Diver, it super awesome!!! but i have a problem with LOG FULL! , when it full while travelling. it'll not work and shutdown by itself. (I've only use sd card space for 20% of storage) NEED A FUNCTION TO DELETE LOG FILE via THIS APP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Other apps on my phone play the TG Tracker video files but not this app.
How do I rename stamp on a Tg4 Its difficult only date stamp can I included name on top of date stamp? Somebody help me
My S7 says it's connected to the camera's WiFi, but the app. says that it isn't
There is no way outside the settings menu to turn on wifi. Once out of settings/wifi camera turns off wifi and android phone cannot see it. Settings wifi menu only allows to to scan bar code and check password, which isn't much help in fixing connect issues. Camera Tg-tracker
It's great, but sucked up all the storage on my tablet. I need the app to access the SD card in the tablet
No longer connects to the phone
So typical of how low tech Olympus is. Always behind the times from mega pixels to connectivity. You guys should just get out of the business at this point. So sad.
Why do you need to know my phone number and remote phone number???
I'm ready sell my camera on ebay. This company should have fixed this long time ago
Come on Olympus. I've just spent money buying a E-M5 II and part of the reason for buying was the Wi-Fi connectivity. It doesn't work and it's not a good look for your company. Please fix ASAP.
The app will not connect to a TG4 with a Nexus 6P running 6.0.1 on Google Fi. The app will connect to a TG3 using the Nexus 6P. The Image Share app does connect to the TG4 using the Nexus 6P. I used my Moto X running 5.1 on Verizon and a WiFi-only Nexus 9 running 6.0.1, and this app to update the TG4 aGPS. So failure seems specific to Nexus 6P.
I was disappointed to see that the app does not seem to support "Shooting remotely with a smartphone" as described on the TG-860 camera's manual, page 69. With the app connected to the camera successfully, I do not find a "Remote" button in OI.Share. I hope this function will be implemented soon. The only remote function I find available is the ability to turn the camera off. On the positive side: My Nexus 4 running Android 5.1.1 was able to successfully connect via WiFi and update the A-GPS data. My first attempt failed, with an error message telling me the update would not go through while GPS logging was on. I had to turn off the GPS logger using the camera's menu system (which meant breaking the WiFi connection and then re-establishing it.) Reconnecting seems to sometimes require that I repeat the first-time-only setup using QR code. I was able to semi-successfully bring the GPS log to the phone; after a long delay I got a map of my travels onscreen, with the notation "Suspending...". Then things hung. I was not able to Save the GPS log on the phone. So in summary: A-GPS update can be made to work, and that is good. Other functions, I have hopes for.
I am using nexus 6p, trying to connect to my new tg-4, no luck. I could connect buy using the OI share though.
1. Is a false statement now.. it fails to download A-GPS files for TG-series. App is a great idea, just a shame Olympus can't do Android apps as good as their camera. So, no uploading to Google Earth now :(
It doesn't work with my EM5
Despite the manual for my TG-870 saying I should use this app to update the A-GPS, it is apparently not actually compatible with this model of camera.
Hi Olympus, pls add USB OTG support for TG2. Too annoying to have a notebook only to update the AGPS.
Falls to connect.
The point of this is app is to download a-gps data but it always fails with "can't connect to internet". Useless, shame as camera is quite good.
Olympus, pls do something!
Does this support TG4? Read me only says TG3 and another one...
TG-4, Android 5.1.1. I Always get the "no photos taken during the recording of gps track log" message. Importing the track log works but no pictures are shown "no image" which kind of defeats this app's purpose. Everything else works as long as you don't start pressing the wrong buttons, else it freezes. Please fix.
Fails to download A-GPS data on Samsung Galaxy S5 with Lollipop 5.0
Won't update ephemeris data on my Nexus 6P (Android 6.0). So, pretty worthless app now...
This app is nothing but problems. Cannot download a GPS data
As reported by others it seems impossible to transfer the GPS logs properly to my mobile. The process starts but very soon it says "suspending" and the WiFi connection between camera & phone drops out. A fix is urgently required.
I love the activity function for my TG3. However when I try to transfer log data to my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 2) the internet connection ALWAYS drops. It works fine with image share so it must be a problem with this app - not with my phone! I tried everything already: disable mobile data, go to an area without any other wifi networks except the camera, reset of the wifi connection... but nothing works! It's so sad that I can track all my activities but can't sync them. If you fix this problem I rate 5*
I got my TG-3 camera after my Nexus 5 was upgraded to Lollipop, so I can't comment on how it worked before. However, it is a mess now. The app really wants to enable the WiFi connection, but that fails every time. If I manually get the phone to connect to the camera, then enable the WiFi manually (from the bottom of the screen) in the app, at least some functions work. However, it forgets the wifi password and otherwise doesn't work very well now (same with the Image Share app).
On my TG-3, I have been unable to get Live View (in Olympus Imaging OI.Share) to work until I removed OI.Track from my phone and restarted the phone. *Then* I could install OI.Share and have Live View work. As soon as I installed OI.Track (this app), Live View gave me a blank screen again, almost hanging my Samsung Galaxy SIII. One thought for some of you with WiFi problems: the Galaxy (or maybe Android) has a setting that drops a wifi connection (and goes to mobile data) if the quality isn't good enough, or if you don't answer "OK" on a dialog box. You can clear the setting manually. The dialog box *I think* only appears if you tap on the wifi connection yourself, NOT when you let the app select it. I believe in the latter case, it tries the connection, realizes it can't get to the internet, and falls back to another wifi or mobile connection. Maybe.
TG3 camera, Galaxy S4 phone. Transferred one track log, missing half the track and pictures. Would not transfer again after that, locked up phone every time, even after re-installing. Also put incorrect date on log, and doesn't consistently recognize camera...had to re-scan code several times. Tells me I have to update GPS, even though it is showing as current. Updated again, but no luck. Olympus support zero help, referred me to a fluff video. And tried Olympus viewer, bit it doesn't even see log on card, yet Windows does. Shame on you Olympus for releasing something that was not ready. Fix it quick please.
I had all sorts of problems getting the Tg3 to sync up. You have to turn off the mobile data and only have WiFi on. Then it works well
Don't listen to all these negative comments, app works great with my TG-3, updated my GPS firmware wirelessly...great app. People who don't know how to use it give it a bad rating. Download the firmware on your phone using your WiFi, then transfer when connected to camera.
I spent £340 on a camera which Olympus advertise as GPS enabled but I can't update the A-GPS data so it never finds the satellites. What a rip off. If you see this, do not buy the TG-3, it is a con.
Doesn't work with TG3
by T####:
The tg-tracker records all sorts of sensor data, which simply isn't used by the app. I'd also like to automatically sync a folder of GPX files from it to use in other more capable software, but the whole work flow from enabling WiFi to exporting gpx is a real pain! Not good for my main use case as a commuter camera for daily cycling, which is why I bought the camera.
