About Kanji Yomi

CAUTION!!!
Some models may be causing the problems. I tested only with HT-03A. Sorry.

A printed Japanese Kanji or a compound is scanned with the camera, and able to consult the Kanji-English dictionary(Web-Site) after OCR(Web-API) are executed.
But not perfect.

Great idea, but it does not work on my DROID. When I scan a kanji the picture comes out corrupted. Needs some more work.

T70%
by T####:

Very nice idea but needs some work. Has a Very hard time identifying kanji in poor lighting

T70%
by T####:

Wish it worked more often. I agree the back button may not be the best for focus. If it clould have another touch button it would be easier to use.

Crashes before loading on Nexus 5 with Android M

G70%

Works occasionally but that's still quite impressive. Kanji OCR isn't easy.

C70%
by C####:

Terrible interface makes the app almost unusable. 8(

C70%
by C####:

Completely fails to focus or take photo on G1.

C70%
by C####:

Yes, has limitations, but... What did you expect? Magic? it's japanese OCR... on your phone! And yes, it WORKS! I, for one, am enjoying this app.

C70%
by C####:

Way too clunky and inaccurate to be of any use. Do it the old-fashioned way and use SKIP or radical lookup.

C70%
by C####:

Seems to work. Wish it works offline tho. Partner with aedict would be awesome. -spica

C70%
by C####:

needs work. totally luck if you can get the characters to exactly line up on the tiny target. requires tripod. clunky interface. unusable atm

C70%
by C####:

Great idea, but the viewfinder is way to small and needs to be used up close, but then the phone creates a shadow and the kanji is unreadble on g1.

C70%
by C####:

It recognizes kanji pretty well especially through handwriting but the web based lookup is down, rendering the app useless.

M70%
by M####:

Seems to work decently on my Nexus One. But the viewfinder is not centered so i kind of have to guess where to aim.

H70%
by H####:

Great app. I'd like to see support for multiple kanji (compounds). Please change the back key and keep updating. Thanks!

K70%
by K####:

Great idea just needs to be able to id konji more accuratly. And the veiwfinder seems a little clunky

C70%
by C####:

Seems to be getting a lot better at identifying kanji. Almost always gets it within two tries now.

C70%
by C####:

Does not work. It needs to be worked on a loooooot, but will reinstall when n it works

D70%
by D####:

I always have trouble with kanji so this my new bestfriend!! ━━━━(^∀^)━━━━!!!!

C70%
by C####:

The back button needs to be changed. It worked about 10% of the time for me. I love it when it works. The turning the Droid's flash would be nice.

U70%
by U####:

On my Moto Photon Q LTE the app just crashes the moment you try to open it.

C70%
by C####:

Crashes my HTC droid incredible 4g immediately, sucks because only lite version works, which has very limited functionality. I need an app like this that WORKS.

D70%
by D####:

Awesome idea, but needs polish. Doubt it'll work in real-world situations without better OCR. I'm sticking to handwriting recognition - for now.

G70%
by G####:

Good idea for an app. Can you make it so you can search images that are already stored on your phone? ~Thanks

P70%
by P####:

It sounded amazing. But... * The camera doesn't focus * I can't control the viewing area on my touch phone (Galaxy S2) * A 404 page keeps popping up * I hangs on "getting data..."

M70%
by M####:

The OCR functionality is EXCELLENT. It works great! The app as a whole isn't really particularly usable, though. As a tech demo for NHOCR it's fantastic, but if you're thinking you can point this at a Japanese magazine and get a useful real time translation, you should probably move along

M70%
by M####:

Good app, but major problem with dictionary used. Translates to Kana, not Romaji or phonetic. Google Translate failure.

M70%
by M####:

...with my OG Droid, but always FCs on Droid 3. :-(

M70%
by M####:

Works amazingly on N1. use flash and don't get too close when u take the pic. It would be l much better if u could copy kanji without going to website

Y70%
by Y####:

Galaxy tab: Frame is low and right of center, prog saves from center. I guessed framing and it got wrong kanji. I used to use on ht03, etc.

M70%
by M####:

Needs option to use flash. It doesn't work unless very well lit. Needs a better cropping control. Would be nice to OCR images.

M70%
by M####:

Good idea, but never identifies the kanji correctly even using printed b/w kanji.

X70%
by X####:

Dont work with note 2

M70%
by M####:

Does not even open. *Galaxy S III.

M70%
by M####:

Doesn't pick up kanji and text box too small anyway.

M70%
by M####:

Does not see the kanji at all and focus point is so tiny that non blurry pics are impossible.
