About Piano Designer
The Piano Designer app helps you to personalize the sound of your Roland piano. Inside the instrument are many parameters that allow you to finely adjust the sound elements of the piano, much in the same way that an experienced piano technician fine-tunes an acoustic piano for a particular artist or musical style. These parameters include pitch, volume, tonal characteristics, the extent to which the virtual “lid” is open, states of resonance from the strings and cabinet, and so on.
With the Piano Designer app, you can easily control these many elements from the graphical touchscreen on your mobile device. In addition, the app includes many ready-to-play settings, allowing you to enjoy custom sounds created by world-class piano technicians.
- Parameters related to lid position, strings, and hammers are listed at a glance, and can be edited and transferred to the piano easily.
- Enjoy playing your Roland piano with sounds fine-tuned by famous piano technicians.
- Graphically adjust the pitch, level, and tonal character independently for each of the piano’s 88 notes.
* Compatible models: GP607, LX-17, LX-7, HP605, HP603, KF-10, LX-15e, HP508, HP506, HP504, DP603, DP90Se, DP90e, FP-90, FP-80
* Make sure your Roland piano model is updated with the most current system program. The latest system program and setup instructions can be found at the support pages at www.roland.com.
* You can connect your Android Device to your piano via following connecting ways. :
・Connection via Bluetooth. (Compatible model: GP607, LX-17, LX-7, HP605, HP603, KF-10, DP603, FP-90)
・Connection via Wireless LAN, by inserting the WNA1100-RL Wireless USB Adapter (sold separately) or Onkyo UWF-1 into the USB Memory port. (Compatible model: LX-15e, HP508, HP506, HP504, DP90Se, DP90e, FP-80)
・Connection via USB Cable. USB adaptor cable (USB A Type (female) to USB micro-B type (male)) and USB cable are required. (Compatible model: GP607, LX-17, LX-7, HP605, HP603, KF-10, LX-15e, HP508, HP506, HP504, DP603, DP90Se, DP90e, FP-90, FP-80)
* To Android 6.0 and above users, when connecting the piano with your mobile via Bluetooth, please permit location information to this application.

okay app but not compatible with ipad air 2 - though it worked with my old mini ipad +3 years old.

I too had issues getting this app to connect to my HP603... What solved it for me was deleting the pairing from my bluetooth settings then running the app. It still wouldn't detect it immediately on load, but going into the app settings and doing a search for midi devices found it and allowed me to connect. I have now successfully downloaded the patches and it seems to work fine.

***Update: i have updated the HP603 as recommended to version 1.09 and it still doesn't work. ***My phone displays the piano as paired but the app does not list my piano. Would appreciate feedback with a solution.

Roland should be embarrassed by this app. It totally defies android hi patterns. It doesn't respond, it is really badly designed and doesn't even look like the Roland brand.

Poor and I would argue untested app. Bearing in mind the LX17 piano cost me 4k I had foolishly expected more. Perhaps the IOS version works, I'll do Rolands job and test it when I get my hands on an iPad. As I mention in the title I have noted various issues, Roland please feel free to comment, but the most annoying is when using one of the apps piano setups it does not return the piano to as it was after powering down. This is despite not having saved the settings to piano. One function it changes as a result is the Master Tuning!

Paid 3.5 Grand in sterling for the Lx-17 it CANNOT pair with my Samsung Note 4!!!!!!

Am I right to assume this app doesn't work with the very latest F140R that has full Bluetooth functionality? If so, will this piano be added to the supported list?

I cannot use this app anymore with the HP508 which connects via WiFi, not Bluetooth. Please fix to provide both options. I can't buy a new piano every year.

I can pair my phone and iPad with my hp 605 but piano designer can't find them as an instrument.

So glad it's been updated for this year's models of roland digital pianos. But do check the version on your piano as if it's under 1.4 it won't work but you can update your piano version from the roland website and then this app will work fine.

Works great when I finally got it going. Required upgrading the piano (HD 603) firmware to 1.12 then performing a factory reset. Without the reset the piano still wasn't discoverable via Bluetooth. Hope this helps others.
