Note for users who experience lag:
Try adjusting the power saving settings on your device.
We found that activating "System power saving" on some devices reduces the UI rendering speed, which greatly reduces the app's performance.

- Network communication: Required to show ads in the Free version and to use the Google Play billing service to buy the Full version.
- Development tools: Required to check if the SD card is available when saving your work.

I have many issues with this app. There is little control of where the brush goes, so pictures end up very sloppy. There's also a lack of options for color. Typically sumi painting has no color, but some sumi artists use it and this app has none of it. Also the fact that you have to pay to use the undo button is over the top. I can understand having to pay for different backgrounds, but making people pay for an essential control is very counter productive and will drive people away from your app.

First, the good. The brush is impressive. With a pen the pressure feature is excellent. Simple three tones. But what would a comparatively expensive upgrade buy. A single undo? No colors? No layers? Not worth the price.

Very good app to practice Japanese calligraphy. However, I'm having problems saving or sharing images. "Error reading image data". So if I want to save the picture, I need to take a screenshot.

It's a an okay app. It doesn't exactly keep me occupied or anything, but I like to use it when I get random drawing doodle ideas. I love drawing on paper, so why not some drawing on electronics?

The brush stroke is EXCEPTIONAL! Two seconds in I was inspired to write a poem about light. 2. The backgrounds evoke different emotions to the same verbiage. In some cases, it looks like there's light beneath the paper. I was stunned and impressed with this feature. 3. The function of changing the background without losing or changing your work is great. Thank you for this option! 4. From my Samsung G7, I have NO trouble saving my work to Google Photos. From there I can share it to another edit app if I blend it with complimentary art for my poetry. 5. I get deeper inspiration when I to write in my own hand, so the feel of the brush stroke is imperative for me. I have tried 30 plus apps hoping to land on one like this one. HANDS DOWN, THIS ONE SUPERSEDES ALL OTHERS BY FAR. Dear developer, You've done a wonderful job with this calming little app. I have no complaints whatsoever and was quick to purchase it. You deserve to be paid for your originality and quality of functionality. If I had one request, it would be to ask you for a few other equally beautiful choices of wood backgrounds as the one you've provided. I go to great lengths to "carve" my poems into wood. It seems noone can provide a darker rustic wood with a lighter stroke option in an app so I have to create the effect myself. But no other brush stroke compares to yours.

Based on the trial version- the brushes are by far the more realistic ones I've found in an app. They run very smoothly and leAve lovely traces. You can make the final result look like a charcoal drawing

I like your app with its simplicity and may buy it, but I want to know if I can open previous files and edit them after I have saved them? I can't see where this can be done anywhere via Zen Brush or file manager. I have a Samsung tablet and android version 4.4.2. I just looked back through reviews - not good to learn that the android app is not as good as the apple version! Buying undo/edit function is a bit weird too? Gone from liked to ok.
