CameraAccess plus for Android
It work to legria mini x
Totally useless.
This is fuel app
Not intuitive. Terms don't match between app & camera. Setup not working via Android 6.0.1 for either in home or out. NFC not connecting. Continuous 'cannot connect to server. Try again after a while'.
Says camera is not connected, and won't even start. Totally useless. Uninstalling.
It just doesn't work. All it says is that I'm not connected, without offering any help or ideas on How to connect.
Does not work with vixia r82
This app is working for my Canon Vixia HFR40 thank you
More agrivation than its worth.
Helps alot with putting videos on youtube☺
The app shows a 10s delate
Junk!
Prior the update, everything was perfect. All I can do is take pictures. Why did you made a perfect app into garbage? All I can do is take Picture now. Wtf?
It claims to work with the Legria Mini. The thing is that in order to connect to the Mini, you have to connect the phone to its access point. As there is no Internet connection, the app doesn't recognise there's a camcorder. Then you can't manually add the Mini's WiFi details to the app settings as it claims they are incorrect. An awfully flawed app that should be addressed immediately as it hinders one of the Mini's main selling points.
At last there is support for Android 6! Had to upgrade the Canon R46 firmware but it now streams over wifi to an S7 edge.
Helps alot with putting videos on youtube☺
I have spent over 2 hours working with this on my android and cannot get it to maintain a connection. I am 5 yards from my wifi and it drops out. Current Android OS Vixia HF r42 never has worked. I amIn Auto mode non 60fps.
Garbage! They sell you a so called smart camera only to discover none of the smart features actually work. Utterly disgraceful.
Man this app sucks it will not connect to my camcorder, did a 2 year old develop this app, add more features to this and make the NFC ability work with the camera, 1 star until updated and fixed
Doesn't work with my Nexus 7 2013 because it has Android 6.02 which is the main tablet I need to use it with .... Now I'm wishing I would have went with a Go Pro
I'm really happy that I can finally use this with my Note 5 and my Vixia R50. I do wish I could control my camera while it's at 60fps though. Seems very strange that I can't.
Huge lag between the true image and what you see on the phone. The whole thing feels like a cheaply made third-party app, not anything officially sponsored.
Instructions are lacking, UI is pathetic, and the app just plain doesn't work well.
Its getting better, but still lagging very bad. Lots of room for improvement
Will not connect to Canon VIXIA HF R72
Finally I found what I was looking for. It works on my GALAXY Note4. Thanks!!
Always force close when connecting to my cam...
Wow! A year later they update this to support android 5. In a week android 6 will start to roll out to nexus devices. I better not buy one of those if i want to use this app...
Prior the update, everything was perfect. All I can do is take pictures. Why did you made a perfect app into garbage? All I can do is take Picture now. Wtf?
This app works perfectly with my Canon camcorder.
All I was trying to accomplish was to start, pause and stop the video recording remotely. After much working around and reading other peoples comments I connected my Samsung Galaxy 4 to the camera. Here's my 2 big issues (just for this simple task). It only writes to camera memory, there is no option to write to the SD card. This is crap. Secondly all you can do is pan, stop, start no other features. Since you can't attach a USB, Wireless, or Wired remote to the R50 camera and only use this app Canon has lost my business. If anyone knows any other work around please document.
Can you please update this to work with Android Lollipop? I just bought a Legria HF R68 today and to my horror I found it´s not compatible with modern Android phones (Galaxy S5)
Worst ever
Very bad, I cant believe Canon use this people for their cameras, lazies.
There's only four letters bleh and sucks and Duke and lame.actually there's a bunch of stuff
Yes. The worst of what everyone else wrote is true. This crapware is what happens when old-school companies don't understand the mobile market and think they can outsource app development to the lowest bidder. Does Cannon realize how poorly this reflects on their company?
Took back R500 because it didn't have a remote. Got the R50 so it would. It doesn't support playing previously recorded footage like a VCR? I've got 20 year old Camcorder that will. WTH paid an extra $150 for function I'll never use. I would use it if it supported Play, rewind, Fast Forward. What's the chances of getting software to utilize this Camera, to its fullest without a 25' HDMI chord between it and my TV? Sorely disappointed :-(
Possibly one of the most unreliable disappointing pieces of software I have ever used. I am not unfamiliar with computer software whatsoever, the issues I'm experiencing are not isolated. I was not shocked when I decided to post this review and found that most people had the same difficulties. I'm researching a more reliable program that will work.
Cameraaccess and Cameraaccess Plus are two apps whose difference and compatibility I don't get. I have never been able to get either to work with a Vixia R40. This is most useless part about my camcorder. Spent a whole day upgrading firmware, then later installing CameraAccess Plus (as mentioned in notes, that newer firmware will only work with Plus). Nothing worked. I'm not messing anymore into this. Canon, if you so proudly announce a solution/feature please make sure it works. Take an example from thousand other hardware manufacturers who get it (the WiFi control) working across all devices.

The app is junk. Non-intuitive UI but worst is 5-6 second lag between zoom/pan action and pickup on app monitor (camera responds instantly but that is no use without real-time feedback). Makes it useless for real-time remote control. Returning CV-T1 panhead until more responsive software can be developed.
