「大きな栗の木の下で」はイギリスの伝統曲ですが、アメリカのボーイスカウトの間で広まったようです。
日本へは戦後に伝わり、教育番組の歌番組によって広まり、現在は手遊び歌として幅広い年代に浸透しています。
「おめでとうクリスマス」は１６世紀に起源がある曲で、クリスマスの定番曲です。
クリスマスの定番曲の中でも新年に触れているこの曲は珍しく、クリスマスの曲の最後に歌われているようです。
