イタリアは南ヨーロッパの共和制国家です。
首都は歴史に名高いローマで、紀元前７５３年に建国されたと言う伝説があります。
ローマ帝国分割以降、多数の都市国家が出来ては攻防を繰り広げ、１８６１年にサルデーニャ王ヴィットーリオ・エマヌエーレ２世によって統一、イタリア王国が樹立しました。
その後も激動の時代を乗り越え、１９４６年に現在のイタリア共和国となりました。
イタリア人はラテン系を中心に、ケルト系、ゲルマン系、ギリシャ系などが混在する民族です。
分かとしてはルネサンスの発祥の地としても有名で、バレエの発祥の地ともされています。
また、食文化や文学でも世界的に知られている文化の地でもあります。
「サンタ・ルチア」はイタリアでもナポリの民謡です。
歌詞はナポリの美しい湾を讃えています。
イタリアの他には、アメリカ、スウェーデン、デンマーク、ノルウェー、チェコ、またタイなどでも歌われているようです。
「帰れソレントへ」こちらもイタリアでもナポリの民謡です。
イタリアのソレントへ捧げられた曲で、日本ではテレビドラマや土曜お昼の情報番組でも使われており、聞いたことのある方も多いのではないでしょうか。
