＜収録曲＞---
「あおげば尊し」「ダンカングレイ」「スコットランド・ザ・ブレイブ」…いずれもスコットランドの民謡です。
スコットランドは北西ヨーロッパのイギリスを構成する４か国のうちの１か国です。
歴史は古く、紀元前１０世紀頃からはじまります。
大陸からケルト系ピクト人が降り立ち、紀元前４３年ころからローマ軍の侵入、４０７年にはローマ軍が撤退したあとはスコット人、ピクト人、ブリトン人により１２世紀頃まで群雄割拠の時代が続きました。
そして歴史を重ね、スコットランドとイングランドの緊張状態ののち、グレートブリテン王国となりました。
３曲のうち、最も日本人になじみ深いのは「あおげば尊し」ではないでしょうか。
「あおげば尊し」は長い間、作者不詳の曲でした。
研究者によって２０１１年に原曲とされる楽曲の譜面が作者とともに突き止められましたが、作曲者については不明な点が多く、一説には女性ではないかといわれています。
日本では卒業式の歌として広く知られています。
