CITIZEN Bluetooth Watch for Android
Clunky but functional app. Frequent disconnects as previous users described. Since upgrade to Android Oreo, watch is unable to connect at all, therefore app needs upgrading/fixing.
The app has been stable recently. It will be great if it can reconnect the phone automatically but not manually. Please continue to modify to it.
Unable to connect with pixel running Oreo
no longer usable on Android 8, bluetooth connection is impossible.
No longer connects after update to Oreo
Constantly disconnect
Even with recent updates still not working! When i connect my watch now, it viber all the time for anything, for all notifications on my phone it is really annoying so i stop connecting my watch. And still, disconnect all the time. And it will be great if there was a possibility for the watch to reconnect automatically to the phone when back on range. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!! Still crashing all the time even with so many update! So don't buy this watch for the Bluetooth things, but for the look of it.
This app is complete garbage and does not work at all. Been trying for hours to make it work and nothing but headaches. In it's current state I would never recommend to anyone to buy a Citizen "smart" watch.
I love Citizen, but this app needs to be worked on some more. It disconnects when I am sitting in a chair, wearing the watch and my phone is in my hand. I love the idea of this app and hope it gets fixed real soon.
Cannot connect to my Samsung Galaxy S8 and the shop that I bought the watch from will not accept the watch back as I have removed links already. A very expensive £400 mistake! Please fix this
This app is simply not working for me. The watch and the phone do not connect. Tried many type of mobile phones. Some works, but mine and even my wife's phone not works with the watch. The watch itself is working with IPad correctly, but hate to work with many type's of smartphones.
Not user friendly at all. Watch is very nice, but it feels like they took a nice watch and "overlayed" Bluetooth on to of it, but it is not really ready or conducive to "smart" features... and the app doesn't help make it any better. As other users have said... I have the watch on my wrist and my phone in my hand and it still can't hold a connection. For Citizen, this is really a poor product.
This is really great, moved from Samsung/pebble back to analog and I like it a lot. App in current for is stable. Like said earlier I would like a auto reconnect option. Keep up the great work!
On Android 7, it will stay connected, but won't respond to any alerts. Pointless.
I'm sorry but a $600.00 flipping watch should come with an app that works!!! Not happy!!! Connected the first day and hasn't reconnected since!!!!
Always disconnects. App have to reconnect automatically. Maybe it's firmware responsibility? ;-)
Really wanted this to be good, it sucks, not sure if the app is to blame or the watch, I received the watch for Christmas, was going to return it, but figured give it some time for updates; shame on citizen!!! For the f'n price of this watch you can buy other WORKING FUNCTIONAL watches.... get it together
Have to agree with other reviews. To me, Citizen always meant quality so I was happy to pay that little bit more but in this case the Bluetooth tech is poor at a premium price. So many better Bluetooth products out there. It's as though Citizen decided to play around in the smart watch market place but with mediocre developers writhing the app. The connectivity between the app and watch is simply terrible. Drops all the time and needs manual revonnection. For this issue to still exist without Citizen trying to placate its customers is simply arrogant and will ultimately alienate people from the brand. I was lucky enough to pick up the watch for £200 which if I use as a standard citizen watch is still a good price but if i had paid retail of £400 I would be very unhappy!
ADDITION 6/22/2017 Review notes on latest patch: Stability was improved, though the last update (the one that came one day after the previous with unnamed bug fixes) caused a total failure of notification functionality until the watch and phone were repaired. They connected, but notifications wouldn't fire on the watch when they appeared on my phone. Fixed with a quick re-pair. No unexpected drops today or yesterday, except when leaving range of my phone or crossing my arms with my phone in my pocket under a table (blocking the signal). Still needs the ability to configure an automatic reconnect time window - when the link is blocked by my arms or a table (a physical hardware limitation), it should be able to pick itself back up once the blockage is removed without manual intervention. Maybe a 5 minute window after losing connection with automatic reconnect (without having to press the damn button), after which you get the LL notification and the watch goes back into "dumb" mode to conserve energy. That, and the ability to fire an sms notification on receipt of an MMS and this will be about perfect. ADDITION: 6/20/2017 Glad to see you guys are still working on updates. This last patch improved connection stability a lot. Still have trouble with the app/service being killed in the background, which causes some disconnects. That could use improvement, even if we have to deal with a permanent notification in the tray to keep it alive. Also, an automatic reconnect option would be killer. I realize it's a battery issue, but with the amount of power generation data the app collects I would welcome some additional options like auto reconnect to allow me to fine-tune the tradeoff between power reserve and functionality. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW: It's good, it works. Just bought one of these watches to try it out, and I really like the concept. It could use more granular notification settings - I get a buzz from a text, but not a group text. Not the end of the world, but I'd like the option to configure this.
You shouldn't call it a Bluetooth watch if you can only connect to the app once every blue moon. For a watch of this price I would expect better from Citizen.
It's pretty good for now and if we keep getting continues support from the company for this app then it'll be really really good
Never worked from day one its garbage looks great though
Geez I love my Citizen watches but I should of got something else this time. Disconnects constantly. I hope the bugs get fixed soon or they will lose a loyal customer. Should of stuck with a regular watch wouldn't of set me back 500$, would work properly, and wouldn't disappoint me.
It's works great! Could use a hourly chime or buzz setting and notifications from more apps and also auto reconnect if the range between watch and phone gets too far and then gets close again . And the range is very short
Link lost. This app doesn't stay connected for more than 20 minutes. It disconnects so often that I've stopped trying to reconnect. I love the watch, but could have saved a pile of cash by not buying the hybrid version. I've even told Android too not optimize the app in hopes of preventing background shutdown, but even that doesn't work.
Learning curve. Once adjusted, it works well. Short distance from phone.
Keeps getting better hope they keep working On it
Can't stay connected long enough to give this app a good rating
Occasionally link loss when phone is within feet. App doc says connection stays for up to 6 hours then requires manual reconnect. This should connect as soon as app is running. My pebble stays connected 24/7 and reconnects when close to phone (anywhere in the house). Generally good if you like the watch. ~john
I think I owe Citizen an apology. Come to find out it was not the app or the watch but the phone causing the problems. Since I have upgraded my phone there hasn't been any issues.
Finally i found thecproblem to connect to my android. First clear the three memories on your watch (mode tme. Pull crown 2 clicks. Hold upper right more rhan 8 secs. Go to the next memory with the center crown and repeat the 8 secs. You'll see how run the dial one circle then you are ready to pair). After pair upgraded my firmware
Don't stay connected have to keep checking to see if still connected. Waste of money, citizen should do better with the technology.
Needs to be improved Watch keeps disconnecting. Expect something better than this from Citizen
Great watch, nice app, could do with updating to look a bit slicker.
It will not connect with phone
Connected to the watch the first time after I installed it but I haven't been able to get it to work since. Uninstalled and reinstalled the App and restarted the phone multiple times. The phone sees the watch's Bluetooth signal but the connection immediately fails every time I try to pair it with the App. I love the watch (W770), but I paid a premium for the novelty of the wireless connection. Without it, the functionality of the device is drastically limited. Count me a very dissatisfied customer until they get this fixed.
Worked the first few weeks I had the watch and app. Now the app fails to open every time. Deleted and re-downloaded app restarted phone nothing makes it work. Send multiple crash reports and sent them an email no response and it's been over a month. Terrible app and useless watch!!! If they don't care about fixing their app and care about the customer I don't care about them. I own another citizen I like it but after this terrible experience will never buy from them again!!!
The connection was fast and easy. It does however lose connection after about 30 seconds. I love the concept of the watch. Now let's see if they can make it work.
My biggest complaint is app has to be running all the time to work. Seems a bit much. When app goes to sleep watch diconnects. Need an auto retry feature during non disconnect hours. Say every 5 to 10 minutes.

Disconnects all the time. Would be nice to set the sound notification for more than one beep. Does not work after Oreo update on pixel XL
