About Sound Watchdog
The Sound Watchdog will help to protect the security of your house by the sound. When an abnormal loud sound is detected, the Sound Watchdog will record a sound, take photos, take a video, and send a mail to you with each files.
The Sound Watchdog works as follows.
1. When you start the application, the top screen of the Sound Watchdog will pop up.
2. Press the menu button on the terminal and select ‘Settings’.
3. On the Setting screen, add an email address in order to be notified of an incident, and a second email address in order to receive various attachments. (NB: You can omit one email address, but not both.) Select the audio recording time (seconds), the sound quality, the number of photo shots, the image quality, the video recording time (seconds) and the video quality. You can also select whether or not to sound the alarm. It is not possible to begin the vigilance without specifying both email addresses. These settings are saved automatically on the terminal, so there is no need to reset them. Only the first email address is valid in the ‘Lite’ version.
4. Return to the top screen by pressing ‘Back’.
5. Set the detection threshold (volume) on the ‘Seek Bar’. You can change the threshold at any time after the Watchdog begins its vigilance. A default value of 70dB(dB is a unit of volume ) has been set.
Note: the characteristics of each terminal will affect the accuracy of its detection: the volume value displayed does not show the exact sound but only a reference value. Therefore, in order to set the threshold to a suitable position, first carry out a detection test.
6. Tap the ‘Start’ button. If the setting is incomplete, a warning message will be displayed and you should follow the instructions. Vigilance will begin when countdown has finished (10 seconds at the start, 5 seconds at the resumption).
7. When an abnormal sound is detected (a sound which exceeds the set threshold), the Sound Watchdog will perform a series of operations according to the parameters set and selected.
a. It will send a mail without an attached file to the primary email address.(This is skipped if this email is not set.)
The ‘Lite’ version executes this only and not the following operations(b to g).
b. It will record a sound (duration and quality preselected). (This is skipped if the time of recording is not set.)
c. It will send a mail with a sound file to the second email address. (This is skipped if either the time of recording or the second email address is not set.)
d. It will take photos (amount and quality preselected). (This is skipped if the number of shots is not set.)
e. It will send a mail with photo files to the second email address. (This is skipped if either the number of shots or the second email address is not set.)
f. It will take a movie (duration and quality preselected). (This is skipped if the time of recording is not set.)
g. It will send a mail with a movie file to the second email address. (This is skipped if either the time of recording or the second email address is not set.)
h. It will sound an alarm.(This is skipped if no alarm sound is selected.)
8. The Sound watchdog automatically resumes its vigilance 5 seconds after this series of operations has been completed. (The ‘Lite’ version does not resume automatically.)
9. Tap the ‘Stop’ button to end the vigilance.
10. If you want to stop the Sound Watchdog, you can either:.
a. Press the ‘Menu’ button on the terminal and choose ‘Exit’; or
b. Press the ‘Back’ button on the terminal and select ‘Yes’ in a dialog box.
