About Blip Blip (hourly chime)

Simple time reminder, plays sounds regularly (hourly chime), but can do much more!.

It can be used as a cuckoo clock or mindfulness bell - every time it rings it gives you chance to think what time it is or what you are currently doing.

By default it plays short sound every hour regardless of day or time of day. It can not only beep hourly but also on shorter periods like 30 or 15 minutes. The time signal can be configured for example to limit chime time to specific hours or days, see below for full list of options.

You can use it also as reminder (e.g. to drink more water or take break from computer screen) by customizing text in the notification.

List of features:
- play sound in regular intervals (e.g. every hour)
- several sounds to choose (e.g. Casio watch beep, gong, ship's bell, cuckoo)
- enable vibration during playing sound (choose from several vibrations)
- quiet hours (e.g. from 22:00 to 6:00)
- quiet days (e.g. Saturday and Sunday)
- display when upcoming notification will occur
- light up screen when playing sound
- pause or silence background sounds or music when app plays (configurable in Advanced settings)
- choose audio stream (ring, alarm, media, notification) - choose ring for sound to follow phone ringtone (choose this if you don't want sound in silent mode)
- lower notification sound volume compared to chosen audio stream (using slider)
- change audio stream sound volume using hardware volume keys in the app
- continue working after reboot or app update
- option to disable while music, video or game is playing on device
- disable notification during phone call
- change displayed text in a notification
- optionally vibrate on Android Wear
- accurate notifications with "Prevent delays" option in Reliability settings (uses more battery - read more below)
- no ads

Recent versions of the app contain "Prevent delays" option enabled by default which actively prevents notification delays which may be up to several minutes on some devices. Unfortunately this comes at the cost of increased battery usage. Battery usage is largest initially during first few days, then it should be lower. If you don't want to use this feature and still have accurate notifications you can try enabling "Light up screen on notification" option or "Alarm mode" in Reliability settings (these do not work on all devices, usually they work for Samsung).

Battery optimization modes or apps warning.
Please note that if the app stops working unexpectedly it may be caused by some phone function or app which stops apps to increase battery life (power saving, battery optimization, eco, task killers, etc.). In such case, please disable it for BlipBlip for the app to function correctly.

If you have some problem please contact us by using "Report problem" from the app, describe your problem and send to forward logs and configuration from your device.

Simple and perfect. I wish I had the multiple beep feature (like those big old clocks) but without losing this simple beautiful minimal design.

E70%
by E####:

Great app...I use the cuckoo clock sound on the hour. I wish it had Big Ben (Westminster Chimes). Great option to set quiet time.... even quiet days! Should be a native app!

L70%
by L####:

Uninstalled, installed again and set new timings. Seems to be working fine now so re-rating this with 4 stars :) Got a very prompt reply to my earlier submission. Thanks Pawel & hope to add the fifth star after using this for a while.

Z70%
by Z####:

I call this my vision best next now bell. There is nothing else out there that is simpler to use and more reliable.

H70%
by H####:

It is simple and does the job. Another feature that I like is being able to vibrate your Andriod Wear by enabling it in Advanced Settings>Notification Settings>Vibrate on Wear

Z70%
by Z####:

A very good app, but could you please add options of chiming every 2 and 3 hours? It would be very helpful for many different purposes. Currently only one hour is the maximum time period.

W70%
by W####:

Very simple and works like clockwork...really amaxing ... Cudos tl the developers... This app is wonderful.. I hav tried others but nothing else was as simple and useful as this.... Keep it up

M70%
by M####:

Can you add the option to set the current time as a base time? I really like the app, but can't use it because in my usecase I need the chime on now+5m now+10m etc.

Z70%
by Z####:

All other developers need to learn from Pawel. This app is perfect. Simple. Works EVERY TIME. Stays silent when it should. Awesome. BlackBerry PRIV.

B70%
by B####:

This is what i really needed. Please add more notification sounds and a customization sound option and also a time speaking voice

K70%
by K####:

Simply amazing. Exactly what I was looking for. Great way to keep track of time discreetly, and the Casio sound is well known so it doesn't bother anyone is my surrounding. Cheers! Keep it up!

Z70%
by Z####:

Thanks for your fast & kind response on google play. I sent you an additional message. For me it seems like the bug happens only on Wi-Fi. I've been mostly okay on LTE mode.

W70%
by W####:

This is how you design an app. I can decide whether to run it as a service or as a process, whether to get accurate results or save the battery, whether to have a swipable notification or a static one. Everything you need is customizable here. Absolutely perfect.

S70%
by S####:

It's simple and awesome app for time management... But it should add Time Speaking Voice instead of just sound bell.

Z70%
by Z####:

Next version should have off the hour timing. For example I would like a reminder 7 minutes after the hour and after the half hour. Maybe someone would like to know a few minutes before the hour so that they can prepare.

Z70%
by Z####:

Lightweight feature packed app! So much customisation and it's all so brilliantly done!! The Notifications could have some sort of Multiple-Options setting if possible. Simply superb! Kudos to the team [edit] The current custom notification is sorta fixed. I'd like the 10AM chime to notify me with say "Daily Morning Review Calls", and the 2PM chime to notify me with say "Recharge phone" etc. Making sense? The app is awesome, light & yet dense with features.

P70%
by P####:

You don't realize the extent of your anxiety until you close your eyes and wait for the beep. Only then you realise how long every minute is and how much time you are wasting waiting for the next. I blip it on a minute basis and it does exactly what it says. On my road to improve productivity. Had to review this for people trying to control productivity and time. They both go hand in hand.

I70%
by I####:

I would give it more stars if it would consistently chime through the phone when my Bluetooth headset is connected. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I can't figure out if there is a setting I am missing that could address this. I wear my Bluetooth all the time because it buzzes if I go too far away from my phone (prevents me from leaving it somewhere by accident), so I don't always have it in my ear to hear the chime. Can someone help me with this? I like the app and really don't want to go searching for another one again. Thanks!

K70%
by K####:

It does what it promises, not taking a toll on batteries. But I'd like to request the developers to add a feature: To add a secondary chime so as to beep another sound every half and hour. So that we can actually distinguish between time.

Z70%
by Z####:

Good hourly alarm, but could be perfect (for my use) with a couple of additions. #1 and needed most, the option for alarm to play until dismissed, or play for, say, 10 seconds, then sleep for 5 minutes, and so on until dismissed. #2 Option to omit certain alarms, e.g. play 8am, play 9am, miss 10am, play 11am, etc.

Z70%
by Z####:

Works every hour on the hour just like it should. Frankly, for $600-700 for a smartphone, I think this feature should be built in with the operating system to begin with. I have tried several similar apps that are not as reliable. Thanks guys for this app that works perfectly.

That Casio beeping got my nostalgia to the 90s. It really helps me stay on time at work without getting zoned out with everlasting tasks. I truuuly recommend this tool to everyone

Z70%
by Z####:

The perfect app and a real problem solver. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, I also tried many other apps (lost count how many) before discovering Blip Blip. It does exactly what I needed, in a very slick and straightforward package. The title in Google Play is a bit misleading - this is much more than an hourly chime. I've set mine to 20 minutes, but there are plenty of options and customisation. Thank you Pawel.

I don't give FIVE (5) stars frequently. Or, put it in caps! :-) It's a VERY rare thing now on Google's Play Store when you can get an app, any app, without seemingly unnecessary permissions but those essential to the app's functions; is clean; full of features; and functions very well. This is one of those rarities. AND, it's FREE! THANK YOU DEV! (Now, don't screw it up with frivolous updates!)

V70%
by V####:

Having tried lots of other apps doing the same thing most seemed to inexplicably have the same development bug that interval was random and irregular though not though design. This app does not have this bug, good clear ui and lots of work gone into settings to ensure app is usable such as selecting audio stream, notification settings etc. Very impressed by this app, great work guys.

Z70%
by Z####:

This would be perfect if it could do multiple beeps at once e.g. one every 5 min and one every 30 min. Now I need to find a second app but nothing compares. This is the best of this type of app. Its reliable and flexible.

Z70%
by Z####:

Simple but comprehensive chime app, with clear and useful settings. The only thing missing is to be able to set longer intervals. It would be very useful to me to be able to set a 2 hour chime but at the moment 1 hour is the maximum.

Z70%
by Z####:

Edit: my original comments were wrong. Correctly set, the app behaves perfectly. I don't often need it, but if you need a repeating chime, this is an excellent choice.

Q70%
by Q####:

Nice app. Can we configure multiple beeps? ... single beep for every 30min and double beep for every 1 hour.. I couldn't find that option..

K70%
by K####:

Once I figured out that the battery optimization had to be disabled for the app, things worked perfectly. What would be nice is the ability to choose a ring tone from my media list.

L70%
by L####:

It's great. Works very well and has lots of options. It even has an offset setting!! There are continually updates and improvements are notorious. Wishing to have a double chime for hours and single for other times. Fantastic as it's anyway.

Z70%
by Z####:

Nice app. Is there a way to make the sounds last a little longer? Currently it just beeps once, and I think I might miss it sometimes.

Y70%
by Y####:

It is the best blipping app that truelly blips according to your settings and without disappointment. It can be bettered with the option of choosing blip sounds from sources other than the ones on the app.

Z70%
by Z####:

Yes! Was looking all over for something that does just this. A simple, clean program that will make a sound however often I set, without using almost any resources. No ads, no b.s. Two thing's that could improve it: Personally I'm using this app to remind myself to relax my muscles and jaw (realized lately I'm clenching) so a few more sounds... Like soft chime, meditation Bell, etc... (High pitched but relaxing) Would be great. The closest thing in the app is a gong, but the going sound is to low in pitch (not volume) to really work on my phone's speaker. Or maybe we could also have option to pick sound from phone. More time intervals would be great (I like odd intervals so the blips don't land evenly on the hour), or the option to just enter an amount. That said, I don't want to mess to much with how clean, functional, and simple it is. This app does exactly what I was looking for. Btw I do sound engineering/design and I honestly love your sound choices! The Casio and primary blip blip (same sound sped up?) are brilliant for many reasons. If you'd like to geek out on the subject or have me send you a couple tones you might like... Message me, or edit your comment to tell me how to contact you.

Can't use in silent mode. Vibrate mode. Do not disturb mode. Not even a simple notification. Absolutely worthless.

Z70%
by Z####:

It helped me at hospital as I have been instructed to have 50 ml of water per hour. Since default clock doesn't have the option this new app came up in handy

X70%
by X####:

Sometimes work, sometimes not. Delay prevention is on

I70%
by I####:

Great work by the developer!! Such an useful and simple app for free!!! No ads... no pop-ups! I really appreciate your effort. Thank you so much.

Z70%
by Z####:

If the dev could incorporate the feature of chimes after a custom interval (Like 3 minutes), this would be perfect. But still, way better than the competition :)

R70%
by R####:

I had no idea so many options could be stuffed into such a seemingly simple app. Bravo!
