Dukto for Android
My 'smartphone' doesn't transfer files to my pc, it's embarassing really in this decade of high tech... So I was using Dukto to transfer and backup files between my 3 pcs through a gigabit lan. Perfect and simple app for that task. Having this unbearable problem with my 'smartphone', I thought there might be a Dukto for Android. And that saved me ! Dukto is using my router's wireless to transfer files to my pc! No usb cables anymore and fail drivers ! Dukto makes it clean and simple! 5 bright stars !
Apps are getting more and more complex, and correspondingly less reliable. This is simple, intuitive, and does want it says without hassle or fuss. Would be better if it would not stop when sleeping, or when losing focus. Otherwise a great app that I'm using more and more as it's so much quicker than complex syncing apps.
Couple of annoyances but still the least annoying all around, can't ignore the bug that makes the target folder "corrupted" and other apps can't find the transferred files unless they're moved to another folder first
Pros: Very simple to use. Multiple files and folders (via check box). Fastest transfer speed that I've experienced. Good for transferring files. Quit and it really quit itself. No ADS. Cons: screen has to be on or it will pause the transfer. Searching for photos/videos is tedious and repetitive (wish able to do via SHARE from album).
Excellent transfer speed. But problem is that when my samsung s4 screen turn off after 15 seconds so it stop file transfer to computer and then i need to press button to turn on screen and it start working again. Please resolve this problem that it can send files on off screen too. Regards
If I leave the app and go back in (after a file transfer)... It just freeezes. Easily replicated. Just send a file, open the received file. Then go to recents and go back into Dukto. Bam, black screen
I've loved Dukto ever since discovering it on PC, it's the most convenient way of filesharing. On Android though there is a huge bug; the file transfer stalls/pauses when the screen goes off or window focus changes and after a few minutes of this pause the transfer will fail. Please fix our belove Dukto to rule them all!
Really nice app for transferring files easily. Only problem is needing to keep the app open and screen on. Having to keep the screen on can be very annoying for large files. Would be nice to be able to keep transferring with the screen off or at the very least an option to keep the screen on until the transfer is finished. Would be 5 Stars if not for that problem.
It was an amazing app until one day it just decided to stop working not computers dont show up on my phone. My phone shows up on other systems but never lets files transfer...it just says connecting then times out. If there is a fix then 5 stars
Let's face it: Dukto has not been updated for nearly 2 years now, and is unlikely to be done in the future as well. Newer apps such as Xender do a fantastic job of transferring files to multiple phones at once, and even installing the app to those phones that don't have it without using an internet connection. Still, Dukto is unbeatable when it comes to transferring entire folders, and its simplicity and great-looking, ad-free interface make it a delight to use. Now if only it was updated as well... :)
Sure needs a tutorial. No way to know that after you run it on 2 devices, you have to click on a funny little circular icon with 3 thingies inside to get the IP address of the device. I finally stumbled onto that. But when I typed in the IP address of my computer to transfer file to it from my phone, and pressed Send Files or Folders, I got a pretty much blank screen and my phone's keyboard opened as if I was supposed to type in something. After that I can't make out what to do. This is the second time in the past year I've tried to make Dukto work. Failed both times. I give up. I'll try another file transfer app.
There's one thing in disclaimer that says the software will send anonymous data to servers , what is this, are you spying on people? This app is FOSS right?
This is pathetic.... i was trabsfer a 2 gig file ... cannot as i have to keep my phone unlocked.... who has time for tht
I love this app and never had any issues until I upgraded to Android Marshmallow. Now the app just crashes on launch, 100% of the time. If that could be addressed I'd be overjoyed.
This app is great for copying files between my phone and computers but I just wish it had the ability to continue to work in the background on my phone, having to keep it on the screen the entire time is slightly annoying. But a fantasticly coded piece of software none the less
very nice app!!!! Pros: discover network devices installed with dukto, push files without intervention, trasfer rate is very good. cons: transfer hangs when device goes to autolock
It works most of the time but at time it gives a blank screen. But when I delete it & download it again, it works fine. But I've deleted it about 12 times already. This need to be fixed.
It doesn't work with Mac. I always get an error. My friend uses this on Windows and it's working fine. I'm not sure if it is platform issue or what.
I'd LIKE to use this software; it seems like a great idea... but that disclaimer at the start that you have to accept makes me awful nervous. "The software will send information to us including (but not limited to), blah blah blah"? Come on. Might as well say "this software will collect information that may be personal, and that we may not have any right to, and it will do it without ever telling you". It means the exact same thing! If the makers told us what was being collected and why, then I might give it a chance. The way it stands now though, No Thank You! I'll pass, in favour of something that doesn't hint at it's own potential riskiness.
Plz kindly fix the problem, if you minimize the app it stop sending or receiving data and that's annoying you can't do any work if ur sharing a movie... Plz fix
Love it, only issue for me is that receiving/sending in android stops the transfer when the phone screen goes to sleep. An option to transfer in background would be great.
Sharing links and files and folders are breeze with this nifty app. Love it. using on Fedora 21 and Ubuntu 14.04 and Nexus 5 lollipop. No need to plug the phone to the usb again for sharing files and folders. Good Job.
I see that I need to keep the app on the foreground and keep the screen on on both phones for the file transfer to work. If I switch to any other app for even a second on either of the phones, the transfer pauses. The transfer also pauses if the phone screen locks or goes in daydream mode. This is a serious drawback, imo and damaging to amoled screens. I hope the devs can fix this. Other than this one issue, this app is a lifesaver.
Love this app, use it almost every day. It's quick, simple and effective. I wish it had a feature to dim the screen for large files, but that's not going to stop me from giving it 5 stars. The best!
Don't get me wrong, I love this app on the pc, but I have just a few slight requests on the one for android to (probably?) make it better. Firstly, could you add the part where it shows up when I hit share on "Complete action using.."? Here comes the second part, I'm not sure if it's capable of doing this since it's in a different app, but is sharing files copied via clipboard possible? The standard way of locating the file and then sending in the app itself is time consuming. Anyway, thanks for the app
Please update the file browser to pick file to send from mobile to system or phone more user friendly.its really tough to follow the path .please bring easy navigation to go to ds card n make the folder view bigger.this is the best app I have used..this is the problem I faced with others..
this app consistently makes me forget that i'm transferring files between a cheap, underpowered prepaid and a 5+ year old macbook pro (lemon since unboxing) over an 8 year old wifi router. it's fantastic! thank you.
I really liked that it does not sell ads, has no intrusive prompts to get paid version and does not want to know everything about you & your grandfather. I just want them to get permission let their app continue transfer if the screen goes off , or there is another app in the foreground.
Quickly recognizes other devices on the network where Dukto is installed and can send files, folders, and clipboard content quickly. Though not the quickest or with elaborate features, it does the intended job well. It is light weight and clean. FEATURE REQUEST: Please allow the receiving device to be prompted before accepting the transfer, and allow only authorized "buddies" to receive files without further authentication. This is a potential security related feature.
I was very glad to finally find an official release of this app on Android, since it's like an old friend - I continue to count on this stellar app on my Nokia Symbian devices and PC, and am glad my new phone could share in the fun. Though like other users I did notice the transfer stopping when the screen goes to sleep. Multiple file selection would be great too. But overall, very happy with Dukto as always and looking forward to better things.
I have tested multiple file transfer apps but I haven't found any that are faster or better than dukto, it's very efficient to use, no ID or code typing, nothing to scan, just simple drag and drop, just wish 2 things were implemented by the dev, a share menu option & make the app work even when screen is of (currently the transfer stops if screen turns off)
It works. I can share file between my Linux mint pc and android :) now it's time to try with Windows 10 to Linux mint :D
I had been looking for a cross-platform program that can exchange files between Android and Linux (I use Ubuntu). This app is my expected solution. Thanks and appreciations to the developer.
I wish I could buy a can of beer to the developer. It works on Linux OS too.
The only issue is you have to keep your screen on for the transfer.
This is a great app for sharing file over cross platform or same platform. But this app need some improvement to be best app for file sharing. like, 1.need multiple file sharing option. 2.need file accept request option. 3. if phone screen off then file sharing automatically pause, need to fix this problem.
Its simply amazing as i do not have to use usb cable to transfer files btw my phone and laptop
I use this app because it's simple and work on my pc (linux). I'll rate 5 stars if it possible to transfer installed apps (apk) to other devices
I've loved Dukto ever since discovering it on PC, it's the most convenient way of filesharing. On Android though there is a huge bug; the file transfer stalls/pauses when the screen goes off or window focus changes and after a few minutes of this pause the transfer will fail. Please make it possible for OpenSuse Leap 42.1! Im an instant fan of this. My family use this in all our devices, including our windows desktop. But my laptop is OSuse LEAP 42.1.. Only Tumbleweed has this app supported.. I also tried to use other Dukto versions for OpenSuse and it doesnt work. Anyways, thanks for this simple yet usable app! Cheers! Ang HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
