Esami di Laboratorio

I risultati degli esami di laboratorio, chimico-clinici, ematologici e microbiologici, influenzano in misura rilevante le decisioni del medico.

L’infuenza dei test di laboratorio nel processo di decision making è cresciuta di recente grazie alle innovazioni tecnologiche strumentali che hanno migliorato accuratezza e precisione delle misure e alla possibilità di interpretare i risultati ottenuti confrontandoli con database sempre più corposi e dettagliati. La base per questo confronto è rappresentata dai cosiddetti intervalli (o valori) di riferimento (I.R.), impropriamente intesi come “valori normali”. In realtà il concetto di I.R. è da considerare più estesamente.

Mediante gli I.R. il risultato di un esame viene generalmente confrontato trasversalmente (“matched”) con quelli di una popolazione di soggetti “in salute”, selezionata in base a criteri statistici come idonea al confronto.

Il risultato del paziente in “buona salute” è all’interno dell’I.R. Tuttavia occorre precisare che i risultati che un paziente otterrà in tempi successivi andranno confrontati oltre che con l’I.R., anche longitudinalmente con i risultati precedenti, in quanto possibili deviazioni inferiori all’I.R., assumono il significato di scostamenti da monitorare.

Risulta quindi estremamente vantaggioso poter disporre di un’applicazione che, accanto ai più comuni esami di laboratorio, riporti gli I.R. e le condizioni patologiche che ne causano la variazione (includendo anche l’effetto dei farmaci).

Quest’applicazione può costituire un utile strumento di consultazione per un ampio target di interesse nell’ambito delle professioni sanitarie e in aree attigue: dai medici, dagli studenti di medicina, agli operatori in ambito assistenziale e riabilitativo.

The infuence of laboratory tests in the process of decision making has grown recently thanks to technological innovations that have improved instrumental accuracy and precision of measurements and the ability to interpret the results by comparing them with more and more full-bodied and detailed database. The basis for this comparison, which we call intervals (or values) Reference (IR), improperly understood as "normal". In fact the concept of I.R. It is to be considered more fully.

By means of the I.R. the result of an examination is generally compared transversely ("matched") with those of a population of subjects "healthy", selected according to statistical criteria as appropriate to the comparison.
