About ScreenWakeUp

ScreenWakeUp uses the proximity sensor to lock and wake up the screen. It run as a service and it will restart automatically on boot.

WARNING: BEFORE UNINSTALL YOU MUST RELEASE THE LOCK ADMIN! (run ScreenWakeUp and select on RELEASE LOCK ADMIN)

You can lock the screen with ScreenLock application (it's not a widget), a long press on search key, covering the proximity sensor on the top of the phone for a few seconds (settable) or simply you can put the phone in your pocket (I've noticed it can fail if the tissue of pocket is opaque black, I think due of how the proximity sensor works).

The screen automatically wakes up (or unlocks if enabled) when you take the phone out from the pocket or you move a hand over it.

The program is event driven (don't uses CPU cycles to check sensors), but the phone needs to stay in PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK mode to permit the wake up. The CPU doesn't go into sleep mode, so after a few minutes (settable) the lock will be released to prevent battery drain. You can read more about PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK here: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/PowerManager.html

Don't be afraid about consumption of proximity sensor, it's really low (0.045mA on my atrix).

Permissions required:
- WAKE_LOCK for turn on the screen
- DISABLE_KEYGUARD for unlock the phone automatically
- MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS for check if a headset is connected
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED for restart automatically at boot
- VIBRATE for vibrate on screen lock

No internet connection needed, no ads, no privacy risk.

Known bugs:
- Sometime the auto unlock option don't works
- Sometime the proximity sensor stops to work when the phone is connected to PC (you must restart the phone)

What are users saying about ScreenWakeUp

1. Screen automatically starts after lock. 2. App consumes so much battery, my phablet has 3500mah which works for two days without app but after installing it works just for 7 to 8 hours. Fix this issues.

C70%
by C####:

Only just started to use but the timer doesn't work. No matter what I set to up 30 secs, still goes off after only 9! Just dropped to one star cost now the phone just stays awake. uninstalling!

C70%
by C####:

I've tried autowakeup on 2 devices now and both have never turned on the screen. No other apps are running to interfere with it. I even set the timer to 1 second and suspened the delay but nothing.

C70%
by C####:

Well...its ok but needs to be tweaked. Why dont you copy funcionality from phones like oneplus that already has this feature. And its bad that it locks phone while watching video on youtube.

G70%
by G####:

Very functional. It works even on my gingerbread phone (Motorola Defy Pro). I like it so much that I installed it on my Huawei Ascend G6. I'll observe how it behaves on my phone. Hopefully it will do well.

C70%
by C####:

Great app. Saved my phone cause the power button soon stopped working and they (phone company) want to take the phone for four days to fix it. Like I don't have to make calls during that time. Thanks for making this app

C70%
by C####:

It works perfectly. One question, i noticed this app makes proximity sensor always on, so does it harmful for the sensor itself? I mean does it makes the proximity sensor lifespan shorter or anything? 5 star for answer

C70%
by C####:

I don't need "auto lock". Only "Auto wake up" is my need. But I can't use the "auto wake up" alone by disabling "auto lock". If i try to do so, when i manually turn off my screen, it just wake up immediately after turning off.

C70%
by C####:

On waking up, it goes straight to the pin unlock screen instead of going to fingerprint unlock. Appreciate any help here. TIA.

C70%
by C####:

Doesn't always work. I wish I had not bought a crappy phone without physical home button

C70%
by C####:

Using this app on lollipop is fine. But when smartphone (infinix x510) upgrade to 6.0 the screen always wake up soon when display not active

N70%
by N####:

Not of use. Just rubbish. Instead of touching the app to lock screen, we can activate autolock or use the lock shortcut. Not useful to unlock screen.

C70%
by C####:

My phone's power button is acting up so this app came as a life saver. Ad free and a lot of options !!

X70%
by X####:

Very usefull. It can swtch off sensor after 1 hour. Brcause my proximity sensor consumes 3 mA. Help a lot to save my battery

M70%
by M####:

At first I thought that this is just one of those fakes I tried,I'm trying to apply the method but still didn't work, I'd even thought that maybe my phone doesn't have that sensor pssh...it just happened that I'd accidentally rub my phone to my cloth then boom it works, after that,I was just like an idiot here rubbing her phone to any fabric she sees...its really cool...whoo I'm just lucky to discover it

M70%
by M####:

my first I thought this Apple is good however I uninstalled it because it kept waking itself up. It is way too sensitive. HTC DROID DNA W/ built-in battery. One of the first to have a built in battery phone is very good. still working after over two 2 years.

M70%
by M####:

I love using the proximity sensor to wake but I have problems with the operation. If I leave auto lock on the screen sleeps in the middle of doing anything and randomly. If I turn auto lock off, the phone turns the screen on every time it naturally wants to sleep. Both situations are really annoying. Am I missing something in the settings? I feel like this app is really close to being excellent.

M70%
by M####:

I needed a way to turn on/off my phone after the power button broke, and this app is perfect. I use the default proximity sensor to double-tap my phone off. The screen automatically turns on briefly when I take it out of my pocket, which is so convenient. My user experience is now better then before the power button broke. I recommend this app even for phones with functioning power buttons. Thank you!

M70%
by M####:

I wave on the sensor and it unlocks my phone...THATS PERFECT...i dont want to use power button to prolong my Cp's button...i dont have to turn on the clever motion on my sensor...i just dont know if it is battery draining

M70%
by M####:

Works great on both my samsung phones. So convenient and eliminates worry abt breaking the power button! Great job! Keep it up guys!

Z70%
by Z####:

I use a Samsung S5 and A7. I bought a dot-view cover for the A7 from Amazon and it was bundled offer where I got a stylus along with it. Actually was not aware that these devices had a stylus that could be bought. Then I got accustomed to using the stylus and using the hard keys required the use of fingers, so I started looking for apps which could substitute hard keys. First was the home, back and recent. Then came the need for screen lock and wake. Tried apps, all failed, only this succeeded

M70%
by M####:

Works excellent! My power button quit working and this literally saves me from having to buy a new phone. Terrific app.

M70%
by M####:

Did not do what I thought it would do but I actually found it to be better than what I first wanted. I thought this app claimed to turn the screen on when I tap the screen while it was off but it actually makes it on when I pick my phone up from being upside down or take it out of my pocket the screen turns on automatically. Absolutely brilliant.

D70%
by D####:

One question. In my redmi 2, this app closes automatically. I have to restart the app every day. what am I missing?

E70%

I use my phone with flip cover. I enabled this app. When i open cover phone wake up automatically. This make my phone more practical and professional thanks developer for developing amazing app.

Works when I flip my phone case open!!! I have been trying all of them....none of them work to turn the phone on! This was is working great!!

A70%

... on my stock Nexus 5, latest OS version, then I need to re-run the app by hand once again, when it is needed. Don't know why...

my system is Jelly Bean This app is good except one issue , The missed calls notification still appear till I turn the app. off and turn it on again The problem disappeared after I uninstalled the app

S70%

It's got better features for free than other smart screen apps, but they don't use nearly as much battery. Not sure what the problem is.

Q70%

the best app ive tried!!!my power button is damaged, this app saves my phone..,is this app consumes more battery?

M70%
by M####:

My phone is red mi(xiaomi), installed it, was quite functional in the 1st few times, but after that, NOT WORKING AT ALL! I have to uninstall it and install it all over again! it is the 3rd time i re-install it! pls improve for the newest version :p hoping to see some improvements :)

W70%
by W####:

Only app so far I tried that wakes in deep sleep, perfect for my power button issue, power consumption is fine, no bugs over time like others so far so I will keep it. Excellent!

W70%
by W####:

I'd like to see in a future an option where I could choose for how long I want to suspend the service by tapping the notification in the status bar (when that option is selected). Right now it can only time out for 5 min and I think it'd be a good idea if the user could choose between those 5, 10, 15 min and maybe an "undefined", where you'd have to tap the notification again to activate the service back.

M70%
by M####:

Good one but the app is required to be running in background for proper functioning.

It resolve problem to press power button again and again.

With only the most required options and no other fuss, no big bug found as of yet, doing exactly what it is created to do, it is by far the BEST Lock Screen app as compared to even the hyped paid apps! Recommended to all like me who hate to press the power button and then also swipe to unlock. After a recent update on my Note 3 the 'None' option disappeared from my lock screen options. This was the last app I tried and it actually turned out to be the best! Dont go for any other paid apps. Thank U Dev!!

...Every other app like this has started well & petered out within 2 days (sometimes 2 minutes). This has lasted longest & while it works (hopefully a long time!) I'm thrilled with it. Thank you! (Update + 1 month.) Still working. Definitely the best.

Z70%
by Z####:

With the on/off button in a stupid place in my phone it was driving me nuts not being able to tap to see the time. This is perfect - flip the cover (or briefly cover the sensor) and it wakes up enough to check the time and notifications but doesn't unlock the phone which is exactly what I wanted! The only downside is it doesn't work in a darkened room to check the time during the night, but that would be the nature of the proximity sensor, no fault of the app. Five stars and thanks so much! :-D
