Ocra: QR Code reader, Scan OCR

Ocra allows you to perform two types of operations:

1) Reading various formats of barcodes, both 1D and 2D, such as QR Code, EAN, UPC, Code-39, Code-93, Code-128, ITF, Codabar, Data Matrix, PDF-417, AZTEC

The data contained in the barcode is analyzed and made available to perform different types of operations.
In particular it can extracts:

- Contact information (vCard, ...)
- Url
- Calendar event
- Email
- Phone numbers
- SMS
- ISBN (article numbers of the books)
- WIFI
- Geographic location
- Other ...

For any given information, as said, it is possible to perform some operations. For example, with a phone number you can make a call, with a geographical location open the Google streetview or view the map, with an email address open a mail client, and so on!

If Ocra find a product code (EAN, ISBN, UPC ...), some additional information are retrieved from the top online store (Amazon, Ebay, Zalando, Walmart ...) in order to provide immediately a detail on prices and features of the product. Is it also possible to visit the product detail page on the store to purchase it or view comments and user ratings.

The reader also has the ability to use the phone's flashlight in case of not enough light in the room.

2) Analyze an image to search for any text it contains (OCR Scan), and then extract the most salient information.

An example is that related to business cards.

Take a picture of a business card with the camera of your phone and select the area that you want to analyze with our tool. Ocra can parse the text and extract phone numbers, addresses of any website or email, and other data types.

Similarly to the barcode reader function, any type of information, when selected, allows you to access features dedicated to it. For example, by selecting a phone number you can easily start a phone call, write a text message, or update an existing contact in your address book.

One of the most interesting features is the ability to add a new contact to your address book, with ALL the information found, in a single step. This makes it very easy to transfer the business card into your phone in seconds.

With Ocra you can also simply scan the text, without worrying about the information contained in it, and share it with your friends, maybe after editing it in some parts. If you prefer you can also save it in the memory of your phone as a text document.

Even the image used for the analysis is at your disposal. You can change it by applying some simple filters (grayscale, brightness, contrast, definition etc ...) and then send it to your friends or save it in your gallery.

If you surf the web with Chrome, you can share the page you're viewing (from browser menu), to Ocra, to automatically extract the text you are reading. For example if you are searching the contact information on a restaurant's website, thanks to our application, you can easily extract and save them in the phone.

From the settings menu, you can also configure in detail the behavior of the application and adapt it to your needs. For example you can choose what to see at the start of the application : OCR feature, BARCODE feature or the main menu. Moreover you can customize the default action to execute based on the data found after a scan.

The application is free and at this early stage does not contain advertising.
