Arte e Fede Diocesi Acireale

L'applicazione propone una serie di percorsi sulla via pulchritudis alla scoperta dei segni dell'arte sacra custoditi negli edifici storici del territorio diocesano. Punto di partenza è la cattedrale dedicata a Maria SS. Annunziata, sintesi della storia religiosa della città di Acireale ed edificio centrale dello spazio barocco di piazza Duomo.
Si prosegue quindi con le altre due basiliche del centro ionico-etneo caratterizzate dalle sperimentazioni artistiche del Settecento, in cui l'unità delle arti è indirizzata alla ricerca della teatralità degli spazi e delle decorazioni. Le tre basiliche non sono che l'inizio di un viaggio alla scoperta delle numerose chiese e cappelle che la città svela ai visitatori tra i principali assi viari e i numerosi vicoli, innestati indissolubilmente con il paesaggio della Timpa e della mole dell'Etna.
Sono questi gli elementi che accomunano le altre città sorelle del territorio dell'antica terra di Aci, in cui la fede dei padri si è espressa con la costruzione di edifici religiosi come segno di invocazione e ringraziamento.
